Scottish National Championships
Well done to Cherie MacDonald and Gemma Brodie who had a bout today at the Scottish National Championships.
Gemma Brodie through to the final tomorrow against Katy "Atomic" Atkin.
Much pity to all the girls who entered/weighed in and didn't get to box. Perhaps if female boxers communicated to each other through bebo we could arrange for more bouts to happen and for things to go right for us.
If you want to box, or are an active boxer, if you have any news about entries into competitions, or know of anybody who wants to get matched, please post a comment on this website.
Still, good progress has been made in that females are now part of the Scottish National Championships so well done and thanks to all who made it happen, including coaches, officials, SABA and of course, the boxers themselves xxx0 Comments 179 weeks

Scottish Amateur Boxing Association Female Championship
If you think you will be ready to fight this coming winter in the Scottish female championship, leave a comment on this blog with your name, your club, your weight and your age. We need to show people that there is interest in female boxing and we need a rough idea of how many weight categories there will be.
It's up to us to make this happen...11 Comments 212 weeks

Hi, I'm a reporter for the Scottish Daily Express, I saw the article in the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser about Gemma McIntosh being Britain's youngest registered female boxer and wanted to follow it up for my paper. Could someone put me in touch with her or pass on my number (0141 352 2523)? Many thanks, Rod Mills
there is now a FEMALEBOXINGSCOTLAND page on facebook. Please add and hopefully we can get everyone to stay in contact.

ABS would like to confirm its third and final Women’s assessment day will take place on Sunday 12th September 2010 at Leith Victoria ABC in Edinburgh between 1-3pm – Our Women’s coach Mark Geraghty has requested that as many female boxers attend as possible. This assessment day is open to all ages and levels from Novice through to Open. Following this assessment day Mark will produce a full report on the three assessment days along with some recommendations on how the selected boxers are pitched in at the correct performance levels and how ABS goes about growing a successful Women’s Team.

Mark Geraghty, Head Coach of Queensferry ABC, as its new Women’s Boxing Coach. Mark will be in charge of developing Women’s boxing and responsible for establishing a structure that increases participation and improves the performances of our Women Boxers. Mark will initially be holding assessment days for Women Boxers so that ABS can identify the strength and depth of talent there is in Scotland. Close monitoring via a database will be used to measure growth in Women’s boxing in Scotland. A Scottish squad will be established and frequent training provided – a competitive structure will also be created to allow a national team to compete in Home internationals and Box cups. ABS will also look to create a domestic competitive structure to allow our Women Boxers to gain more experience through more bouts. The ultimate aim is to produce Women Boxer’s who will compete for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympic Games and beyond.
what the bloody hell !!!!
