E.C vs Republik
The Electric Avenue Loft is back in action this Saturday night after a short summer break. It's all in a good cause to support popular local promoter/doorman/chef Ger Burke who is fighting an expensive court case to regain custody of his son who was taken out of Ireland by his ex partner without his knowledge.
It's gonna be a heavyweight SOUNDCLASH, and in the RED corner we have the techno heads from Electric Circus (Sex Shop Dave & Deep End Music) taking on the might of the Republik House Trio of Gavin, Mac and Kenno in the BLUE corner. It's gonna be one mighty mash up on the dance floor and meanwhile down in the Electric Avenue main bar there is loads of live music with Gorbachov, Dae kim, Bang On, Give Me Rosa plus the UNTZ lads Muc and Pet Shop Dave on the decks.

Kevin Gorman -LIVE + Donnacha Costello - LIVE
|
Two of Ireland's most respected and longest running club nights Resistance and Electric Circus team up for a Party of high calliber with two of the hotest live acts on the circut today. Kevin Gorman and Donnacha Costello both know for their outstanding live sets around the world with their take on Techno.
Kevin Gorman is a DJ & Producer from Manchester, England. He is best known for his releases on International Deejay Gigolo, CMYK and his own label Mikrowave. In December 2007 his debut album 'Chemistry Lock' was released on Gigolo, featuring the single DMX.Kevin has played throughout Europe's clubs and festivals, including Fabric in London, Sonar in Barcelona, The Watergate and The Berghain in Berlin and Rex Club in Paris. He performs exclusively with his laptop and MIDI gear, crafting live and improvised edits each time.Kevin is also a member of Madrid's Net28 crew alongside Alex Under, Tadeo and Damian Schwartz. His track '8' is included on the first ever Net28 release, a compilation simply called ‘01’. In 2007, Kevin released two records for Alex Under's CMYK label - the Nota Azul EP and a remix of Damian Schwartz’s Verde Confeti.
Mikrowave was formed by Kevin in 2006 and has featured music from himself as well as Alex Under, Agaric, Marc Ashken, Tadeo, Mihalis Safras, Mark Broom and Phil Kieran. Most notable being ‘Black and White’, the original version an Adam Beyer favourite and the Alex Under remix was included on the Sebo K Mobilee compilation ‘Back Up Volume 01’ (2007).
Remix credits include the R & S rave classic ‘Vamp’ by Outlander, as well Alloy Mental’s ‘God is Green’ for Skint Records.
Kevin’s musical influences are very diverse but he takes most inspiration from the raw, groove led music of Chicago, New York and Detroit. Artists like Carl Craig, Green Velvet, Todd Terry, Jeff Mills, Rob Hood, Paul Johnson, Gemini, Mad Mike, Boo Williams, DJ Sneak, Derrick May, Masters At Work,Kevin Saunderson and so on...

Donnacha Costello There can be no question that Donnacha Costello is in electronic music for the long haul.
Since his debut way back in in 1996, he has been forging groovy, stripped back and highly refined releases which have consistently been in the playlists of techno’s biggest Djs. To date, his music has appeared on the cds of Josh Wink, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz, Luciano, Magda and several
other names you know only too well.
He first came to international attention with albums on the legendary Force Inc and Mille Plateaux labels in 2000 and 2001 but it was the release of his Colorseries on his own Minimise label in 2004 which brought him wider recognition and placed him firmly at the top of his field. This success was solidified in 2005 with the hit 'Ok, That’s Great, Start Over' and 2006 saw him release his now infamous 6x6=36 project. 2007 brought another hit with 'Black Bag Job' and now in 2008 Costello is working on some special releases which might just be his biggest yet.
Known for his love of classic studio equipment, Costello combines the spontaneity and strong character of his older machines with the finesse of his cutting edge Pro Tools HD system to achieve a hybrid sound that transcends arguments concerning old school versus new school. Such concerns have become irrelevant to him as he pushes forward with the self confidence that 12 years of releasing records and performing all over the globe have brought him.
Support on the night comes from Cian Frawley the man behind TechFest, Irelands first Techno Festival which took place this year and is still being highly prased and is part of Limericks Techno and House partys STRUTT . On opening slot is long term Resistance resident and the man behing the infomus Electric Circus Niall Power.
