About us:

The Dublin Gospel Choir is an immensely committed group of singers and musicians who have come together to express their faith, joy, and belief in life through Gospel Music. Initially founded in 1996, they have truly become Ireland's premier expression of Gospel Music.

Some highlights for the choir include:

-Performing on the Main Stage at Electric Picnic for two years running, this year collaborating with Damien Rice, Laura Izibor, Paul Noonan and Lisa Hannigan

  • Brand new album "Doing Their Thing" released Friday November 6th

Album Launch Party at Tripod Saturday November 7th

The hand clapping, foot stomping Dublin Gospel Choir make a welcome return with the release of their brand new album ‘DOING THEIR THING’ on Friday November 6th. Packed full of true gospel classics and surprising future favourites, The Dublin Gospel Choir will showcase ‘DOING THEIR THING’ at Tripod the day after release, Saturday 7th November. Tickets are available now from Ticketmaster.

‘DOING THEIR THING’ was produced by Ken Mc Hugh of Autamata fame. The first single to be taken from the album ‘Liberty Bell’ was also produced by Ken, a track he originally wrote and recorded himself.

As the song is synonymous with Dublin, it is a perfect fit for the Dublin Gospel Choir and it will be sure to be ringing on radio stations across the country! The choir also had the award winning London Community Gospel Choir on hand to add some funky gospel flair and soulful arrangements.

From their modest beginnings as a local school choir in Dublin’s inner city 13 years ago, they have become a household name in Ireland, playing a host of concerts each year, plus a large number of corporate and charity events. Add to that their annual slot at Ireland’s internationally-acclaimed boutique festival Electric Picnic (at which they played the Main Stage again in 2009) and a performance to a sell-out 82,000 crowd at Croke Park in 2008, and you have a group of people who are really going places. Not too many Irish acts, let alone international ones, can boast of sharing the stage with music industry heavyweights such as Rod Stewart, John Legend, Damien Rice, and The Chieftains. But that is exactly what the Dublin Gospel Choir has achieved over the last few years.

The choir also featured along with Chris de Burgh on a special New Year’s Day BBC Songs of Praise programme which was broadcast to over 35million viewers worldwide. Whereas the religious audience is one target market for them, the Dublin Gospel Choir seems to have broad appeal. Collaborations with people like Damien Rice and Paddy Casey have also won them a much younger audience and one that remains a large part of their audience at shows right across Ireland. They were also invited by Rod Stewart to join him for two great nights at the RDS.

“An annual must-see of Electric Picnic – who’d have thought gospel would be this cool?” (Irish Times)
“Gladdens the heart and brings a smile to the face……Uplifting stuff” (Hot Press)
    “Ireland’s foremost gospel musicians” (Metro)
