I've been a DJ for nearly half my life - fuck. Started DJ'ing in a club called 'The Venue' in Glasgow around 19 years ago, then started a wee club night called 'The Cathouse' in Hollywood Studios (Brown Street) that grew up to become the biggest rock club in Glasgow. BUT, that was then and this is now :D

Recently I've started new clubs around Glasgow - AltNation Club in Bamboo (Thursdays), DamnatioN (Fridays) & AbsolutioN (Saturdays) in Classic Grand, with more nights to follow very soon, but I'll keep this profile updated as events unfold. Latest achievement is, becoming co owner of the Classic Grand along with Forbes Manson and Luigi Aseni. The Classic Grand is the only alternative club in Glasgow EVERY Weekend and now the biggest rock club in Scotland. We pride ourselves on playing alternative music, not mainstream chart pish.

I like to redraw the boundaries of alternative DJ'ing, then smash them up and start again. NO playlists. NO limits. NO fuckin sell out!

  • After 19 years of dj'ing, I now co-own my own venue

    Just a wee heads up to let you all know that from 1st September, me, Forbes and our new partner Luigi will be the new owners and management team of The Classic Grand. We will continue to bring you DamnatioN & AbsolutioN every Friday & Saturday and we'll be announcing more new nights starting in September, soon.

    AltNation @ Bamboo won't be affected so you can still expect the club to run with the level of service you've become accustomed to every Thursday. We'll also keep going with Easy @ The Buff Club, which just gets better and better.

    I'll post details of our launch party soon, to which you will all hopefully come along to and help us celebrate new beginnings :)

  • Do you play in an unsigned local/Scottish band?

    If you do, then send me your demos F.A.O. Barry Douglas, Classic Grand, 18 Jamaica Street, Glasgow G 1 4QD. Alternatively, hand one in to me at the club. If the sounds and quality are good, I'll mibbe play a few tracks in the club.

    The catch? NONE!! I've always been a strong supporter of local bands, so if I can give good Scottish bands out there some airplay, I will.

    Details: PM me for details of format requirements for demos & where to send. Selected demos will be played in the first 45 minutes of the club opening when new material and promos are played (including your mad, mental obscure requests ;) )

    The catch: NONE!! Alternative Nation cares about the local alternative scene and we want to be a part of seeing it grow and improve.
