About Me

Me, Myself, and I
Having signed to Rough Trade in 2004, Delays released their debut album Faded Seaside Glamour the same year. A riot of nifty riffs & celestial harmonies, it boasted top 20 hits ‘Long Time Coming’ & ‘Nearer Than Heaven’ & prompted the Guardian to describe them as “the first guitar band in a decade to lay claim to the melodic guitar pop throne invented by The Byrds & the Hollies.”
Follow up You See Colours (2006) saw their psych-pop blueprint delivered with added BPM. A brooding mix of “Voulez Vous’ & ‘The La’s’, it spawned hits ‘Valentine’ & ‘Hideaway’ & brought both an army of new admirers & a mutually agreed split from Rough Trade.
This brings us to fantastic new album Everything’s The Rush, & a new deal with Fiction Records. This is the sound of Delays striding into the big league. Brighter tunes, bigger choruses, the need for emotional rescue greater than ever.
The uplifting first single from the album "Hooray" is released on 28th April, the album will be out on 5th May.

  • KEEPING IT SIMPLE

    HELLO FOLKS

Well here we are nearly at the end of the summer festival season with a just a few more weeks to go.

It's the V Festivals for us next weekend and we know we are going to see loads of you there. Come and say hi to us in the signing tent after the gig, and you can catch up with all our festival stories and photos in the blogs over at our myspace page too.

    KEEPING IT SIMPLE

This Monday 11th sees the release of 'Keep It Simple'. It's available on 3 formats as well as all the tracks being available as a bundle to download.

There really are some wonderful tracks to go with this release - we always want to try make our b-sides top notch for you guys, so without further ado...

On the CD is a live version of the Neil Diamond song 'Cherry, Cherry', recorded on the Dermot O'Leary show on BBC Radio 2. You may have heard us perform it in our 'skiffle' guise at Lock Tavern or Blue Flowers way back when... happy days! Anyway the track got such a great reaction, we've put it on here, so enjoy.

On 7" Vinyl #1 there is a new song for you called 'Go Slowly'. You can grab the snippet on our myspace or watch it being recorded here on our youtube site:

    http://uk.launch.yahoo.com/festival-...

Finally, on 7" Vinyl #2 is 'One More Lie-In Part 2' the closing part of 'One More Lie in' from our album 'Everythings the Rush'.(If you havent got the album yet 'Everything's the Rush' is just £5.99 on iTunes here -

    - at the mo in their mid-season sale, so no excuse!)

Get all our singles on recordstore here for a fiver:

or individually, or download the single bundle here from Monday:

    YAHOO VW FUN

Definitely, definitely don't miss checking out this free live session we recently did for Yahoo. It went so well for us, we loved doing this.

We played 3 songs as a full band - 'Touchdown', 'Friends are False' and 'Keep It Simple' - and we then went and played some songs acoustic in the back of a VW Van, probably our most intimate gig yet... have to say we think they turned out blinding, hope you like them too. Head here to check it out:

    http://uk.launch.yahoo.com/festival-...

So wherever you are in the world thanks for all the love and support, keep sending us the messages, we love hearing from you.

    See you all soon!

    Delays xx

    P.S

There's a demo version of 'Keep It Simple' available as an itunes exclusive here too, enjoy!

We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it. Ewen was a real legend and a great sport! Stay tuned for behind the scenes footage of the making of the video coming soon. You can also check out some stills from the video in an exclusive gallery at Gigwise here.

    HELP SPREAD THE WORD
We're on a mission to make 'Keep it Simple' a summer anthem and get the video seen by one and all. Please take 2 mins to send the youtube link to everyone and anyone, whether it's updating your facebook profile, embedding on your myspace or bebo page or simply emailing to your nearest and dearest - get involved! Thanks for all your help in getting this out there, we couldn't do it without you.

    AARON DOES IT AGAIN
For those of who he didn't know, Aaron was chosen to be the official NME.com Euro 2008 pundit, due to his freakily correct prediction of Greece as Euro 2004 champs the last time around.

Well, the boy's only done and gone it again, as reported here today - successfully picked Spain to win Euro 2008, revealing that his predictive skills are "...just intuition, I speak from the heart, I'm the real deal...I just woke up that morning we did the predictions and I saw red. Not in angry way, but in a matador way. They were fucking amazing!"

There you have it - not since Derek Acorah has a mind been blessed with such supernatural powers. Roll on Euro 2012 is all we’re saying...we know where our money will be going!

LATEST JOINTHERUSH WINNER IS...& WIN WIRELESS VIP TICKETS
Congrats to Jenny Foreman who wins some signed, framed album artwork from the band:

Deadline to enter is this Friday 12pm, we'll notify the winner after then, ahead of the weekend.

Enter here now, and head over to the Wireless website for further line-up details or there's still time to get day tickets should you not want to miss out.
