- At only 19 years of age David Bateman is one of the hottest acts to emerge from Scotland. With only his acoustic guitar and amazing vocal talent, his anthemic and catchy melodies are having fans singing along to every word.Recently he has played gigs at The Edinburgh Corn Exchange,Glasgows 02 Academy as well as a headline show at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and playing on the same bill as acts such as The Complete Stone Roses,Tommy Reilly,Chris Helme of the Seahorses and Mark Morriss of The Bluetones. He has also secured a few celebrity fans too.
TOM CLARKE OF THE ENEMY : "I've been playing Daves music to the lads all week.Top stuff!"
MICKEY DALE OF EMBRACE : "See you in the charts mate!"
NORMAN BLAKE OF TEENAGE FANCLUB : "I didn't expect that voice to come from that mouth.Brilliant!"
THE LIST MAGAZINE also said "David Bateman does acoustic simplicity reminiscent of 90's Britpop alumni Ocean Colour Scene,The Seahorses, and James.

King Tuts? Owned for the night.
A massive thank you to everyone who piled into King Tuts to see the HEADLINE show! What a night!
The bar's empty.I sat with Karima Francis and crew drinking my Tennents. We had all just soundchecked and had a scran and this was now the amazing build up to the show.I'm sure I'd had a few more drinks than what I said I had but it was calming for the nerves.
I'm just doddling about. In and out of the dressing room, fixing my clothes, checking the hair, making sure everything is perfect.I wander back down to the bar to see a busload of people piling in.Theres an atmosphere tonight that I've never felt before, something that said it would be special.
I mingle for a while and go to watch the other two acts.Adriana played first. She was very good and mellow. Her songs rung out across the room. Then Karima Francis performed with her unique and sort of crazy voice and majestic guitar. She was magic.By the time she'd finished though I had to rush to the dressing room and quickly make everything perfect.I sat at the fire exit puffing on a Windsor Blue.I've just changed into my clothes and I'm starting to feel the pressure of perfroming.Tommy my manager and Shaun my "roadie" have both psyched me up.It's time.
I'm waiting to go on.Graham (the King Tuts guy) switches off the house lights.I straddle onto the stage to a great cheer.I put the guitar around me and burst into Caught Between the Earth and Sky.Theres foot stomping, clapping, and cheering all the way through it.I'm loving every second of it and so are they.
I feel like I've stormed through most of my set because of the adrenaline rush and then comes the most nerveracking part.New songs.I decided to try out "Trying Too" and "Out To Sea".They go down much better than I'd imagined and theres even people trying to sing along with them. But now it's time for Tuts to shut.I'm already 10 minutes over my set time so I finish with Caroline...Wow.You can't imagine how good it is hearing people sing your songs back at you so loud for the first time, and when the songs finished and I leave the stage they still wont let me go.I had to do an encore.A cover because I'd ran out of songs.
What a night.Everything just fitted together. The crowd, the headline spot (which is pretty ace for an 18 year old solo artist) and the bus back where the new chant was created! "DO DO DO DO! DAVID BATEMAN!"
Mental.
Thanks to everyone who came.Heres to many more!

NEW SONG LYRICS.
Stand in the rain.Coz we both turned our backs.
Hit by a train, but I'm so off the tracks.
Won't let you cry coz that would make it feel so real
Don't want to fight coz its just not how I feel.
I don't mean it I'm lyin,I'm sorry for trying too.
I don't mean it I'm lyin,I'm sorry for trying too.
I'd run all the deserts,Just to find you the rain.
I'll cry all my tears.Just to see you again.
Crawl through the dirt but it would make me feel so clean.
I could find the words but will you know what I mean?
I don't mean it I'm lyin,I'm sorry for trying too.
I don't mean it I'm lyin,I'm sorry for trying too.
The suns shinin through, and the smile's coming back.
The lights burn back on,and I'm running these tracks.
I don't mean it I'm lyin,I'm sorry for trying too.
I don't mean it I'm lyin,I'm sorry for trying too.
I'm so sorry for lyin, don't mean that I'm trying to.
--------------------------------------------------
This is my "Hallelujah".It's a beautiful song about someone I've hurt recently and I just want this to hopefully express what I can't say.
Happy New Year

Great man, just email us your entry to the address below by the 3rd October
Audio-Unsigned@hotmail.co.uk
Audio Unsigned is a Young Enterprise company set up by a group of teenagers as a way of promoting young unsigned artists.
Our aim is to create a compilation CD comprised of many different unsigned artists from across Scotland.
Alongside this we also hope to set up some live music nights in venues in and around Glasgow and Edinburgh to help further promote the bands.
The CD will hopefully be sent to recording companies across Britain to give them the chance to see new and upcoming talent that they may wish to offer recording contracts to.
There will be NO COST to the bands that are promoted as Audio Unsigned strive to promote equal opportunities and to increase young peoples interest in music.
If you are a solo artist or a band and wish to have one of your tracks considered for the CD please get in touch.
Thanks!
