  • NZWPW Bringing Down the House 07/05/10

D-Hoya made a triumphant return to the ring last night at NZWPW Bringing Down the House, defeating Ben Mana to advance to Power Play VII and compete for the right to train at Lance Storm’s Wrestling Academy in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Mana warned D-Hoya not to step in the ring with him, or he would end the six-time NZWPW Champion’s career once and for all. D-Hoya refused to be intimidated though and kicked the match off with some hard shots to Mana’s head.

The two men traded blows before Ben Mana scored an early advantage and knocked D-Hoya off his feet with multiple clotheslines. With Hoya grounded, Mana went after the former champ’s legs in an attempt to keep him on the mat.

When D-Hoya got back to his feet Mana whipped him into the corner and sent him crumpling back to the mat before removing one of the turnbuckle pads and whipping D-Hoya into the now exposed steel turnbuckle. The force of the blow rattled the ring and unhinged one of the turnbuckles in the opposite corner - detaching the top rope from the ring!

D-Hoya looked to knock Mana down with the Liquidiser but Mana scouted the shot, took Hoya to the mat and locked him into the Mana Stretch! D-Hoya was able to shake Mana off though and get back to his feet.

Ben Mana whipped D-Hoya into the ropes and lined up a clothesline for the former six-time NZWPW champ, but D-Hoya countered into a head-scissors before spiking Mana onto his head! D-Hoya then crawled on top of his downed opponent for the three count. With this win, D-Hoya advances to Power Play VII to compete for a place at Lance Storm’s Wrestling Academy.

NZWPW Bringing Down the House Results:

Double Count Out: Chad Howard vs. Johnny Idol
Chad tossed Johnny Idol from the ring and was shocked to see the Masked Wrestler - in the same attire as Idol - return instead of Idol. The action spilled out of the ring as Howard tried t remove his opponent’s mask and both wrestlers were counted out as they brawled at ringside. After the match was declared a draw, Howard challenged the Masked Wrestler to a match at Power Play VII: Hair vs. Mask!

Dream Catcher” Phil Woodgate, The Nerd & Thor def. GI Jay, JC Star & Kid Caprice
Thor chokeslammed JC Star out of the ring where he was hit with a DDT from “Dream Catcher” while Thor gave GI Jay and Kid Caprice a double chokeslam. Woodgate then slid into the ring to make a cover and claim the win.

Travis Banks def. Dan “The Man” Stirling
Stirling went to the top rope and hurtled towards Banks with an elbow drop, but Travis caught Dan and locked him in the Lion Clutch! Dan forced Travis to release the hold and scooped Banks up for the Dan Driver, but Travis rolled off Stirling’s shoulders and went back to the Lion Clutch, this time forcing Dan to tap out. Banks now advances to Power Play VII to wrestle for a place at Lance Storm's Wrestling Academy.

Rufguts called out the #1 contender for his NZWPW Championship, Tykade, and blamed him for a loss at the Oceania Sumo Championships in April. Rufguts then challenged Tykade to a sumo match for the NZWPW Championship right then and there, but before Tykade had time to accept the champion blindsided him with a vicious assault and left the ring laughing.

Misty & Stellar Hammer def. The Caprice Sisters w/ Chi-Tah
Misty knocked Rose from the apron and smashed Carmella into the mat with the Misty Makeover, but was knocked out of the ring by her own partner, Stellar Hammer, who wanted to pin Caprice herself. After the bell had sounded Misty and Stellar came to blows, with Misty dropkicking her partner out of the ring.

    “Shining” Nick Silver def. Loki
With Corey Dallas unable to compete, “Shining” Nick Silver made short work of the debuting Loki and put him away with a hurricanrana followed by the Silver Bullet. Silver now advances to Power Play VII to wrestle for a place at Lance S

  • Pirate and Ninja new Tag Team Champions at Extreme Measures!

Pirates and Ninjas Are Totally Awesome were crowned the first ever IPW NZ Tag Team Champions at Extreme Measures when they defeated nine other tag teams in the Tag Team Eliminator followed by their victory over “The Professional” Joseph Kinkade and Mischa Ivanoff in the tag team match final!

The Tag Team Eliminator match, which saw the teams enter the ring in two minute intervals kicked off with Pirates and Ninjas Are Totally Awesome and Saint Chaos. Flagboy and the Antagonist were next to enter, and were just as quick to exit the match when both went over the top rope, and their team was eliminated from contention.

“The Samoan Silverback” Alexander and his partner A Class were next into the match, and as they entered Curt Chaos was eliminated, leaving his partner, Brian Saint James, as the last hope for the team.

“Handsome” Danny Jacobs and his man mountain Elias were next in, and they were followed in two minutes later by the wildcard team of Liger and the first woman to be in the main event in IPW history, JPE.

Jacobs was soon eliminated by JPE, but she quickly followed him out when she was thrown over the top as the Xtreme Superstars joined the fray, Jordan Invincible and Davey Deluxeo. A Class was then eliminated, and Deluxeo threw Elias over the top rope to the outside, taking HDJ and Elias out of contention for the belts.

Pirate Burns was the next to go, followed by Liger, leaving JPE and Liger out of the running for the belts. Rocketman and Astro were the next tag team in, but it wasn’t long before both men were eliminated single-handedly by Brian Saint James.

Flagboy and the Antagonist made an illegal entry back into the Eliminator, and went just as quickly as their first attempt in the ring. Kazuki and Link van Haggard were quick on their heels into the ring.

Flagboy and the Antagonist entered for the third time, making their stay long enough to eliminate Jordan Invincible before they were out of the ring and chased from ringside by the enraged Xtreme Superstar.

Mischa Ivanoff and “The Professional” Joseph Kinkade were the last team to enter, the privilege they earned when they beat Pirates and Ninjas Are Totally Awesome earlier in the evening in the Eliminator Implication match.

Kazuki and Link van Haggard were caught in a double team and were both eliminated by Ivanoff and Kinkade, followed quickly by Alexander, who was tossed out by Kinkade.

Brian Saint James was then eliminated by Deluxeo, leaving four men in the ring: Ivanoff, Kinkade, Deluxeo and Ninja Fury. Mischa was the next to leave following a double team by DD and Fury, but Deluxeo was the next to go, falling victim to Kinkade, and with Kinkade and Fury the last two men in the match, the match then switched to a traditional tag team match with the two remaining teams.

Kinkade used dirty tactics and attacked Ninja Fury before the start of the next portion of the match, so Kinkade went straight for a series of pins as the bell rang, but he was unable to keep the Ninja down for the three count.

Fury got to his feet and started to fight back, but Kinkade wouldn’t let him have the advantage. Ninja struck a low blow on Mischa and hit a hurricanrana from the top to get the all important tag to Pirate Burns.

Burns was quickly stymied by an amped up Kinkade, and momentum remained on the side of the Professional and Ivanoff. Burns managed to hit a neckbreaker on Ivanoff and managed to get the tag to a refreshed Ninja.

The Pirate and the Ninja then double teamed Ivanoff, and Fury then pounded Kinkade into the corner and as Mischa joined the fray, all three piled up in an Electric Chair from the ropes.

Burns and Kinkade then brawled to the outside, while Fury hit a spinning dropkick followed by a huge Shooting Star Press from the top to get the three count on Mischa Ivanoff, meaning Pirates and Ninjas Are Totally Awesome earned the victory and became the first ever IPW NZ Tag Team Champions!
