Dance Sparc <Dancesparc>


The DANCE SPARC is an exciting & inclusive community dance project which provides access to DANCE for 17-24year olds across West Dunbartonshire. This project is funded by the Big Lottery's Active Futures Fund, West Dunbartonshire Youth Trust, & supported by West Dunbartonshire Community Planning Partnership.

The DANCE SPARC has been set up to offer 17-24year olds the chance to have fun, keep fit, learn a new skill & meet others. With a wide variety of dance styles ranging from Bollywood to Break dance, Contemporary to Capoeira and Salsa to Street dance, there is something to suit everyone.

Due to funding restrictions, classes are unfortunately no longer free of charge, although we are offering three payment options:
£2 per class
£25 for a 15 week block of one class
£40 for unlimited access to all the classes.

  • SCOTTISH BALLET EXCURSION - FRIDAY 12TH DECEMBER!

    SCOTTISH BALLET: THE SLEEPING BEAUTYFRIDAY 12TH DEC @ THEATRE ROYAL, GLASGOW, 7.30PM

    Winner of the Critics’ Circle Award for Outstanding Repertoire (Classical), Scottish Ballet presents Artistic Director Ashley Page’s acclaimed take on the classic fairytale.

    A truly spellbinding tale that begins once upon a time on a gorgeous summer afternoon in 1830, this unique version of The Sleeping Beauty unfolds over one hundred years showcasing the era’s fashions, sometimes graceful, sometimes outrageous, but always lavish, in a magical kingdom created by international designer Antony McDonald. The Sleeping Beauty features Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, alive with musical motifs, and performed live by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra.

    If you are interested in this excursion, then book your space quickly as there is limited availability. To secure a ticket, please contact a member of staff and pay a £5 deposit. This fee will contribute towards transport and ticket costs.

    Please note the we are running a bus from the Meadow Centre, Dumbarton, which will take participants both to and from the theatre.

  • CREW BATTLE DAY OF DANCE!!

    CREW BATTLE

    SUNDAY 16TH NOVEMBER 12.00pm – 4.00pm
    Centre 81, 2-16 Braes Avenue, Whitecrook, Clydebank

    Learn Top Rocks, Footwork, Locking, Strobing, Clowning, Krumping, Tutting Moves and Routines!

    Work on choreography within small crews; build up your own mini routines, gimmicks and freestyle sections. Finally, take all you’ve learned and created and ‘battle’ the other crews as there can only be one winning crew!

    Come along on your own, with friends, or if you are an already established crew who want the opportunity to battle against other local crews!

  • Dance SPARC Film???

    Hello all!!

    I’m currently planning the next Dance SPARC programme which will run January 12th – April 3rd 2009 and wanted to run an idea past you to see what your thoughts were…

    The programme can not run over the Easter holidays as we can’t get into the schools and some of the other venues so it is easer to stop than to have some bits running and some bits not.

    However, with funding coming to an end in June 2009 I though it might be nice to use the Easter weeks as an intensive project period to do a dance film project. It would have to be fairly intensive however- Monday – Thursday 6pm – 9pm for the first week which would be spent filming and the second week spent editing. This would allow you to put a few different dance films together and let you have a shot at directing your own thing as well as being directed in someone else’s. At the end of it you would all get a copy of what had been achieved.

    I think this could work really well, and be a nice event to be part of and a nice end to the project. However, it can only go ahead and be programmed if interest is shown as it will require a degree of commitment and will be costly in terms of the budget.

    If you could get back to me and let me know your thoughts as soon as possible that’d be greatly appreciated!
