5 Driving Tips
1. KEEP YOUR ARMS BENT: If you're driving with your arms straight out in front of you and something unexpected happens, like one of the tyres blows out, you'll never be able to recover it. Sit closer to the wheel and keep both arms slightly bent, giving you more leverage and allowing you to regain control quickly.
2. NOTICE THE ROAD SURFACES: It's important to take note of the different types of road surfaces out there, as they can vary dramatically. Some allow much less traction than others, which is crucial to be aware of when travelling quickly.
3. BEWARE OF BENDS: I never go fast on bends with trees on the outside because I know how unforgiving they are. When you hit a tree, you tend to die. Even hitting one at just 5mph hurts: it's not just a little bump, it's a horrible feeling that pushes you backwards, goes right through your body and rattles your teeth.
4. TRUST YOUR SUBCONCIOUS: Learn to develop your intuitive awareness skills rather than solely relying on your analytiical mind. If you're constantly thinking about the driving process, such as changing gear, looking in the mirrors and so on, then you're not focused enough on the road and you're going to make mistakes. The more you drive, the better driver you become, as you're not trying actively to think about so many things at once.
5. CONSIDER OTHERS: Driving on the road has one big factor that stunts don't - other road users. People can be unpredictable, and you need to be aware of what those around you are doing. Nobody seems to indicate much these days: it often just seems to be a case of manoeuvre, then deal with it. You need to watch out for this at all times. Remember, not everyone is necessarily aware of you.
