  • Tell President Obama to Stand Up for Tibet!

    Take action by sending a message to President Obama now to let him know you expect him to keep Tibet on the agenda at the US-China summit in November and in all his future meetings with China. Nearly 6 million Tibetans are counting on you to tell the President to speak up for them and put an end to more than 50 years of religious and cultural oppression, torture, and economic marginalization.

  • Support the International Campaign for Tibet

    Our 2009 Action Agenda is ambitious—and critical for the future of Tibet. With your help, we will concentrate on these key points this year:

    * Increasing support in Congress for Tibetans inside Tibet and in exile, including humanitarian assistance for Tibetans fleeing persecution;

    * Creating focus in the new Obama Administration to press for an action agenda that helps secure the end of human rights abuses in Tibet;

    * Continuing to build a strong base of understanding and support for Tibet by educating the public, national and international leaders;

    * Gathering information, conducting the intensive research and exposing the real situation in Tibet to the media; and

    * Most importantly, exploring every avenue to secure the release of Tibetan political prisoners.

    With your help, we can counter the brutality and injustice of Beijing, and fight not just for the Tibet of today—but for the potential of a strong, autonomous Tibet tomorrow. DONATE NOW: https://secure2.convio.net/ict/site/...

  • Your Help Is Needed to Oppose the Lhasa Death Sentences

    The Lhasa Intermediate People's Court in the Tibet Autonomous Region sentenced two Tibetans to death on April 8 on charges relating to "starting fatal fires." These are the first official capital punishments against Tibetans in connection with the Lhasa riots on March 14, 2008, and the first known death sentences against Tibetans since 2003.

    Two other Tibetans were sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve, and one other was sentenced to life imprisonment in a total of three separate cases of arson, reportedly involving the deaths of seven people, according to the state media.

    An appeal to the Chinese authorities was published by Václav Havel, Desmond Tutu and others last week. Tibet groups around the world are campaigning to draw attention to the lack of due process and independent observation of these death sentence trials, and are calling on their governments to urge China to re-try the defendants in fair and open trials under international standards of justice.

    Please add your name in support of this appeal now. http://support.savetibet.org/site/Pa...

    The International Tibet Support Network, a global coalition of Tibet-related non-governmental organizations, is coordinating this effort and will receive support numbers from ICT as this campaign moves forward.

    Thank you for your response to this urgent campaign.
