- Me, Myself, and I
- Like many young people today, I started drinking around the age of 13, it seemed like the only fun thing to do on weekends; getting served at the off-licence made me feel grown up and getting drunk made me feel involved with the people I hung out with. I started to see things going wrong; friends have been in and out of hospital with alcohol poisoning, girls as young as14 been put in some really terrible situations, and all the people who didn’t know when to stop (myself included) not being able to even remember what happened.
With my campaign I want to change the idea that drinking is the only way to socialize and have fun. I still drink alcohol sometimes myself, and I don’t want to come across as a strict parent, I want to show that there’s more to life than sitting in the park drinking vodka.
Teenagers crying out for something to do – something that is different and stimulating. I want to set up club nights that have a creative vibe, where are so many things to do you that you

junction49
today i applied for some funding from a campaign website for students called junction 49, its a really amazing resource for students from different Unis to post their ideas and share thaughts and get coverage and help from other students, google it.
so i told them this-
primerally i need funding to get everything started, to print posters to stick up around the community and flyers to hand out to young people to get them involved. I dont think just adding people on social networking sites is a particularly excititng way to go about engaging the masses. Design is going to be a big part of the advertising of the campaign as well, by getting the art in there right from the beginning, people can begin to appreciate what the ideas about...
And to rent out space, even just cheap community halls costs to get things started.
Without bringing a crowd of people to spend money behind a bar, venues wont rent out for free.0 Comments 382 days

plain janes
My friend Bosola runs an amazing monthly arts culture club night called Plain Janes at 93 Feet East in East London.
The night brings together all types of artists-from poetry and spoken word to dance, art installation and animations shown on screens. Its a really amazing vibrant night and the crowd is always supportive, encouraging and responsive.
This month, I asked Bosola if i could run an Art Corner in the corner of the bar, an ongoning hands-on type activity that would get people together and get the amazing audience to mix and mingle and create.
The theme of the night was Fabrication, so I decided that the Arts Corner should be all about creating false identities- we made masks that go on the back of your head; to be 'Two Faced' and paining eyes on the back of your hand like wierd human sunglasses.
People would juct come and sit down around a big table and grab some glue and scissors and just got involved, we could still watch the performances while we made our stuff and in the breaks we talked to eachother...I made friends from all over the place-some guys came from Vancouver in Canada, towards the end some Spanish students came over and made some crazy stuff, a guy called George who spent almost four hours on his mask... everyone there just got involved.
It was all just wicked and positive and a total sucess, people chatted and shared stories and laughter and left the bar with a secret cardboard identity instead of a prospective hangover... It was just chilled and even though everyone there was legally allowed to drink, it just wasn't that kind of night. there was no need to it was fun anyway.
This is the kind of thing I want to be happening at my club nights, creativity leading to socialising and a safe, friendly atmosphere. lots of fun.
have a look at the pictures!
