Breakers win an Overtime Thriller against Adelaide 36ers!!!
Hey Breakers Fans!!
Quite possibly the most exciting game of the season took place at the NSEC last thursday when the BK NZ Breakers came back from the dead to beat the Adelaide 36ers in overtime.
As usual the Breakers looked comfortable at half time after a second quarter blowout to lead 49-31 at the major break.
However, a second half rally conducted by star import John Gilchrist who led just about every category for the 36ers gave them a 2 point lead with 10 minutes to go. The third quarter ended up being 35-15 to the 36ers.
The final quarter remained close with the breakers trailing between 1-5 points right up until CJ Bruton's game-breaking 3 pointer with 6 seconds to go on the clock which drew scores level.
Overtime was upon us and some cruical perimerter shooting and an accumulation of free-throws helped the Breakers survive a major scare to retain their perfect home start to the season. The final score was 99-91 to the BK NZ Breakers!!!
Hope to see many more of you at our next home game on Thursday against the Gold Coast Blaze!!!0 Comments 6 days

BK NZ Breakers Hold On Against The Crocs
The BK NZ Breakers had to deal with some last quarter jitters before holding off the Townsville Crocodiles 92-82 at the NSEC.
The team got off to a great start, leading 35-19 at the first quarter break. With ten minutes to go the game looked as good as done with the 81-62 scoreline, however midway through the final quarter the margin was reduced to as little as 4 points between both teams.
Awvee Storey top scored with 22 points, while Rick Rickert complimented very will with 16 points and a mammoth 18 rebounds.
The next game for the Breakers is against the Adelaide 36ers on Thursday at the NSEC.0 Comments 6 days

Simondaballa1 hour agoWe need to get rid of Storey ASAP!!! and get a combo guard who can play at 2 and 3 spot (Phil Jones-esque)
Every club in the ANBL got stronger this season and the Breakers and Tigers are the only sides who have weakened significantly - departure of Jones and Barlow respectively.
Recently, the Tigers have acquired a marquee player in Julius Hodge. It's time for the Breakers to make some improvement before it's too late. Breakers should let Awvee go and pick up a diligent team player if they are SERIOUS about making strides to the championship.
This season is so cruical for the Breakers. Next year, most of our key players will be in mid- to late-30s in terms of Age and also might have to compete against the new Sydney and Brisbane sides.
I know already that many of the regular followers of the Breakers have stopped attending their home matches and they are saying that this year's team reminds them of the Breakers in old days - substandard import, underperforming players, etc. -
Simondaballa1 hour agoHey Sean B, you are right on the money.
From what I heard from ppl who saw Awvee Storey playing in the Korean League about 2-3 years back, he is more of a guy who can be the most effective under isolation offence. He's never been a reliable outside shooter in his career and that is what he's been doing for the Breakers.
No wonder the Breakers are strugging this year and Im sure the acquisition of Storey has also slightly affected Forman's role and caused him to struggle immensely on the offensive end.
It's not just this year that the Breakers is dealing with injuries - Remember last year we had Penney out for a few weeks and also had CJ sidelined due to injury. But we were able to deal with those adversities as we had a good team chemistry and everyone on the roster was contributing - except Adam Tanner (Towel Deliever) -

Get Rid Of Awvee Storey.
PG: Bruton (Will get injured most likely with the minutes Andrej's giving him), Henare.Either Tait or Fitchett.
SG: Abercrombie, Webster. (IMPORT)
SF: Forman, Boucher
PF: Ronaldson, Trueman
C: Rickert, Pledger
Changes: Need a Kiwi or Aussie to replace the injured Penney. And a import for storey. Import could be either SG or PF depending on what kiwi they can get. Bruton will miss games this season as well -

CJ Bruton played to many minutes again. Im starting to wonder if Andrej should go is well? Penney is gone for the season. The breakers should start thinking about getting someone like Lindsay Tait, Mike Fitchett, Brendon Polyblank, Everald Bartlett, Ben Hill, Craig Bradshaw or even promote Alex Pledger or Corey Webster. As far as imports with penney gone and NZ can't get a decent SG to replace him they'll need a scoring import. What about Phil Jones?? (O he playing for cairns). -

Sean B3 days agoBreakers played like school girls on Defense. Way to many soft fouls - piggyback fouls if you like. Bruton needs to take more shots in the 4th Quarter. Only 8 players used in 1st 3 quarters (terrible coaching) - where was pledger, webster & Trueman?? Boucher, the bear, henare & abercrombie were awesome. Oscar was average. Rick Rickert didn't play in the 4th. *Note to Andrej - Run some offensive plays to him in the post hes a friggin beast down low! Better then jacking up triples all the time its starting to become predictable. The coverage by moari tv & te reo is a disgarce to nz basketball. Surely you can put it on sky or prime. Shout out to Radiosport commentary. Why cant they call the games on tv? Desperatly need KP back and a decent import. If Storey plays one more game Andrej & co need to be fired! He is a disgrace and absoultly useless as tits on a bull player. Joey Blaze for coach of the year the way he played the 4th quarter was genius.

GET RID OF AWVEE STOREY. Didn't even shake the blaze hands what a douchebag. Bad decision from coach to bring him in team. Defintly a dud import.
