The un-allied kingdom of Karamune is at the centre of a magical war.
There are 4 High sorcerers who defend the Kingdom from various attacks of the non-human kingdoms surounding Karamune. Princess Lupato of Faith, Prince Yokatu of Hope, Master Haruko of Loathing, and Mistress Hiroko of Hate.
With each of the 4 high sorcerers defending the kingdom, there is no way anyone can get in, but it all changes when Yokatu is killed by an attack from a rogue Rock Beast.
Now Keitaro, a low power magician who uses Faith spells, must learn to face his fears and forget his dreams, so that he may defend the kingdom along with the 3 High Sorcerers.
But can Keitaro really ignore the dreams he fought so hard to keep alive?
Can he uncover the secret that is destoying Karamune from the inside?
Can he survive, and keep Karamune alive?

Typos.
Dear readers.
Many of you have stated that I have typos in my work. I take a long time to try and remove all typos, but apparantly some have still got through.
If you spot any typos in my story, can I ask you to take the time out and note them down here.
Thanks

How does the magic work?
Magic Information
OK, I'm doing a short summary of magic in the world of Princess Lupato.
Firstly, There are 4 types of Magic, Faith, Hope, Loathe and Hate. Each type has it's own element, which is controlled by one person. (The master of that element)
Faith - Water
Hope - Wind
Loathe - Fire
Hate - Earth
Each element is strong against one, and weak against one. (Arrows point to the weaker element)
Water --> Fire
^................|
|................v
Wind<--Earth
The magical ranks are:
1. High Sorcerer
2. Medium Sorcerer
3. Sorcerer
4. High Level Magician
5. Medium Level Magician
6. Low Level Magician
7. Underqualified Magician
8. Non-Magical Human
Note: To raise through the ranks, the magician must pass a test for each, but The High Sorcerer rank can only be presented by a King, or another High Sorcerer.
Magical Law says that a magician may not perform spell of a higher rank than themselves. The exception to this rule is that if a magician who is on or above the rank of the spell (and is able to perform the spell themselves) is present, then the lower level magician may perform the spell with the permission of the higher ranked magician.
Spell ranks are below, as are the Ranks of each sorcerer revealed so far.
Spells:
Faith
Flight - Level 1
Change - Level 6
Levitation - Level 4
Water - [Elemental spell, unranked]
Hope
Speed - Level 4
Wind - [Elemental spell, unranked]
Loathe
Shield - Level 5
Fire - [Elemental spell, unranked]
Hate
Earth - [Elemental spell, unranked]
Magicians:
Faith
Princess Lupato Karamune - Rank 1 - Defender
Hal Dagal - Rank 5
Miranda Dagal - Rank 7
Makoto Hechi - Rank 4
Eulalie Metona - Rank 5
Hope
Prince Yokatu Karamune - Rank 1 - Defender (Deceased)
Master Keitaro Dagal* - Rank 3 - Defender
Misa Avalon - Rank 5
Loathe
Master Haruko - Rank 1 - Defender
Khato - Rank [5+]**
Mr Heiro Avalon - Rank 3
Hate
Mistress Hiroko - Rank 1 - Defender
** Khato's rank is unknown, but he performed a level 5 Spell (Shield) without an observer, so he is definately above rank 5.
* Keitaro Dagal is a Hope magician, but he was born into a family of Faith magicians, and passed all his tests up to level 3 as a Faith magician.0 Comments 449 days

Staying in this form for longer than ten minutes would drain any magical energy he had at an alarming rate."
Author's Description
Maro is the guardian of the Water element, and more importantly, it's possesor. It is his job to make sure no harm befalls Princess Lupato. He has two forms which he can change between at will. His first is his 'fake' form, a small winged black kitten. While in this form, Maro is much faster and more agile, but only has half of his magical energy. His 'true' form is a large black Panther. While in this form he has all of his magical energy, and can borrow energy from the Water around him, including the density in the air, but he cannot stay in the form long, as it takes a lot of energy to sustain after 10 minutes.

Do you actually read the Character descriptions?
- Yes. Religeously.
- Yes. But not recently.
- No. They just bore me. Stop wasting your time and use it to write the story!
- No. The story describes them good enough for me.
- OMFG!! Character Descriptions? Where? How the hell did I miss those? *runs off and reads them*

Review of chapter one Sorry, I'm too pushed for time to read all of this, so I'll just review the first chapter.
by Mrs Brightside 61 weeks ago
Firstly, I liked your use of dialogue - it was realistic and aided characterisation. Secondly, you have a good sense of timing - you know how to cut short a narration to leave the reader wanting more. If it were a film, I'd say you knew when to cut to a new scene to create tension. The last lines in each section at the most memorable ones as they leave the reader wanting to know what happened next.
There were quite a few typos here, particularly with the apostrophe (Princess' means that there is more than one princess - you want to use princess's). Also, I'd never capitalise after speech e.g. ..SPEECH." Opposed the Princess. Even thought it's after a full stop, I'd write 'opposed'. It just looked odd to me.

Review This story deserves 5*'s!
by Ice Phoenix 62 weeks ago
There isnt much else i can say, even with the few typo's that manage to slip through it still drags you into another world. I pictured your magical world like i was part of it, a citizen in another time.
Everything got explained where i got confused,
another brilliant story.
Excellent descriptions of charecters and surroundings. i pictured Karamune perfectly, and the charecters powers.
To top it off? the characters have magical powers which is sometimes hard to describe.
*thumbs up*
You made this story seem more like a movie then a story, it seemed just seemed so real!

Review by NicTei. This is a Historic Document!! Well, I found the idea of what you've got going here highly original, and I thought it worked well. As you did on Dungeon Spawn, I'm going to steal Chinaren's point and say that there were some typos, but I can't readily think of anything that could be tweaked.
by NicTei 62 weeks ago
Main typo: OK. I know that it's a minor thing, but in a serious book, I think you'd be more likely to see it spelled 'Okay' instead of the letters.
Other than that, it was either missing letters or flipped letters, like 'teh' instead of 'the', or 'e' instead of 'be'.
Anyways, I found this enjoyable.
Keep writing!
