This is a group set up to support those people that stammer. Stammering can occur in early childhood. It can also occur in teenage and later life but this is rare especialy after the age of about twelve or thirteen. Stammering affects about 60,000 poeple in Scotland alone. There is no known cure for stammering, but speech therepy can help improve speech. This can help effectivaly if it is given before the age of 5 when a child is still learning to speak and before they start school. Statistics show that males are more likely to be affected by stammering than femles.
ways of improving your stammer can be slowing down, breathin and being confident. It really works

famous people that stammer
theres loads of famous people that have stammerd. these people have overcame the barriers of stammering to achive sucess. to mention a few theres Winston Churchhil (the prime minister of Britain during ww2) Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) Tiger Woods (golfer) and Bruce Willis (actor) This just shows that people dont need to have fluent speech to become sucessfull.0 Comments 502 days

I am a fourth year university student studying speech and language therapy. I have an interest in stammering and hope to specialise in this area once qualified. As part of my degree I am conducting a research project looking at the difficulties faced by young people who stammer and their parents. I hope that this project will inform the speech and language therapy service as to what can be done to improve the service provided to help people with a stammer. You do not have to have had speech therapy to participate.
I am looking for parents of adolescents who stammer and adolescents aged 11 to 21 who stammer themselves to complete a short questionnaire to help me with my research it will take around 5 minutes!!). All of the information will be confidential and no identifying information will be included. If you are interested in volunteering or would just like more information please message me and I will contact you.
