The senior lieutenant then kicks her flailing body, spits out her head and shouts “fucker” at the suffering animal, all to a round of applause and cheers from soldiers surrounding the despicable scene.

We are rushing a letter to the Secretary of State for Defence, urging that the MoD http://blog.peta.org.uk/tag/mod launch a thorough investigation into this sickening matter, and apply all penalties against the soldier. What’s more, we also implore that they move swiftly to end the use of animals in survival training exercises – the excuse given by the MoD for this scandalous footage. These exercises fail to teach relevant skills to soldiers who could one day experience life-threatening adverse conditions. As our director Robbie LeBlanc points out in the letter:

“It is pointless for a soldier to practice killing birds, considering that in a real-life survival experience, few would have trouble killing such an animal if survival depended on it. After all, soldiers do not practice by killing other humans in order to be effective in combat situations.”

Let’s see – there was a whole pig on a spit for roasting, a mounted deer’s head for the wall, a tiger skin with “head intact and jaws gaping” and various other nic-nacs from beyond the grave brought along by guests.

But then again, could we have expected anything different? ‘Nuff said.
