Combining their love for traditional and folk music as well as original songs and tunes the Paul McKenna Band have been playing to audiences throughout the UK since 2006.
With a contemporary approach to songs, although not straying too far from their roots, their arrangements are both fresh and innovative.

**** THE SCOTSMAN
Bursting with enthusiasm and tight, driving rhythm, this young Scots band has been polishing its performance over the past few years, taking its Scots/Irish amalgam of contemporary roots music round the folk club and festival circuit. Guitar, bouzouki, cittern, flute, fiddle and heartbeat-steady bodhran provide deft instrumental textures and two sets of dance tunes. Mainly up-tempo, the pace relaxes in Burns' 'Lea Rig', and swings along with delicious harmony in McKenna's own tune to the evergreen 'Jolly Beggar'.

Hi Guys,
Travelled down from Glasgow on this cold eve to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers play Wellington Sq but were surprised be entertained by a band called The Paul McKenna Band. When I first heard the name I thought "what are these guys going to hypnotise us or something" but when I heard it all made sense lol!
I like the fact that from your music, lyrics and obviously your voices you are traditionally Scottish. Luved Carnloch Bay!
I heard you mentioned your album will be out soon, just wondered how soon that will be. See I am flying out on Boxing Day to have a wee dawner around Oz & New Zealand and I have a lot of family and friends out there mainly Scottish who I know will luv your music. Now as I am going to be there for New Years I think your music will be great to play on the lead up to the bells and bring in the New Year with. Plus we all know that everyone luvs the Scottish, well except for maybe the english.
Anyhoo's I look forward to your reply.
