- The Culture Factory group was born of the frustration and anger at the lack of facilities for the young people of Newbridge and it was quickly agreed that that something must be done to tackle the chronic shortage of services. We aim to provide a suitable space that will promote the creative collaboration between artists & young people, many of who, are excluded from what is traditionally regarded as the ‘arts sector’.
This space will be open to all young persons regardless of race, religion, sex etc. Ideally, it will be situated in the Oscar Cinema. This old building is up for sale, although other buildings may also fit the bill.
In this building we will provide facilities for: Live music, rehearsals, recording studio,
dance, film making, playing pool, artistic teaching zones, cafe, and meetings.
If you would like to help, get involved or have suggestion about what you would like to see in 'Culture Factory', just get in touch with us!

What a Great Battle of the Bands!
Hiya Folks
Last night was fantastic, great music, great crowd and great setup, we really enjoyed the buzz. All the performances were brilliant and the judges said that it was so close when it came to deciding on a winner. The winners on the night were Cutting Off Kids. congrats to the lads who now can go away and record some tracks with the prize.
Well done to all the bands who played last night, it was a great gig and brilliant to see so many talented bands in the area. There will be plenty of photos and videos up later on for ya's. Thanks to everyone who played and helped out with the night (there's too many to thank but you know who you are).
PS - We gotta organize something like this again soon

Some upcoming events for you
Hiya folks,
Just a few upcoming events we thought might be of interest to you:
October 30th & 31st sees Sheer Tantrum’s third production, “Intensive Care” hit the Moat theatre Naas. The Newbridge based drama group bring you a night of short disturbing, thought provoking horror which will leave the viewer breathless and horrified. It's directed by Vincent O’Reilly, designed by Paul Winters and performed by Claire Blennerhassett, Sarah Allen Clarke, Amy Fleming, Colm Ivers, Guy leadbetter, and Cian O'Dowd.
Friday Nov 6th sees Band on an Island perform an acoustic instore gig in Top 20 Newbridge at 6pm, this is followed by their official Newbridge album launch in KYT's Liffey Studio's Saturday night @8pm. It's limited to 50 tickets which are available from Top Twenty (€10) and support on the night comes from David Aspell (Appo) and Paul Mccormack.
Friday Nov 6th also sees Gavin Moore (Christy & Luka's nephew) perform in the Liffey Studio's @ 8pm, with tickets @ €10/12
Well thats quite a lot of entertainment coming up and just time to remind you of our Battle of the Bands this Friday (Oct30th) @ 7pm Ryston and of course the rest of the Féile na Samhain on Saturday in George's Street, Newbridge.
