- Well, here ya are! This is da bebo fer Spud Nigger, the most useless Irish punk band the world has ever encountered. Seriously useless - that's us! We live in the geographical arsehole of Ireland (Athlone).
We couldn't afford fancy electrimafied instruments, so we just play punk on acoustic instruments. Course dat means we can set up and play anywhere, anytime - gweeYUUUUP!!

Live Spuds review from Hamell gig
Last night I saw the award-winning ‘Hamell on Trial’ in the Bog Lane. Ed Hamell is a one-man-show; singer, songwriter, comedian, raconteur, social commentator, entertainer - Think Bill Hicks with a guitar or a very funny Billy Bragg! Ed Hamell’s humour is definitely not for kids, either in content, or in language, but hey, there were no kids in the audience, so that was not a problem!
The support band on the night were ‘The Spuds’, a three-piece from Athlone, and they were superb. They look like your worst nightmare, but they are actually lovely lads. Their set was hilarious, and included them handing out free cans of beer to the entire audience. Again, they are so ‘not-for-kids’, but they had me in stitches, and I can’t wait to see them again. A trip to Athlone may be in order, to see them and ‘Pariah’! Or maybe some promoter could get them both over here for a gig? Just a thought!
