Bruces Candle Lit Vigil
A candle lit vigil for Bruce, the alleged pit bull in Northern Ireland.
I am told that protests are being organized in America on Bruce’s behalf and are planned for 23rd July. Lets complement this effort with a world-wide photographic candle-lit vigil to be published on the same day.
What is needed.
1) A candle
2) A camera
3) A sign saying ‘Save Bruce’ or ‘Bring Bruce Home’ giving a location (county/state/country) to show how far spread the campaign is.
JOIN OUR CALL TO "PAWS"
"Paws" for a moment of silence and join us in lighting a candle in honor, support an recognition of our beautiful canine friend, "Bruce", an innocent victim and pawn of Northern Ireland's Breed Specific Legislation law.
We can't do many things for Bruce as he still sits - just under 2 years - caged, isolated, and physically neglected at the hands of a government agency. These laws were enacted to decrease harm to its' citizens but is now causing harm to many, including Bruce, and his family.
Ur Support In This Event Would Be Greatly Appreciated
Thank You4 Comments 116 days

Bruce Update! 26th November 2008!
Bruce’s fate still undetermined
Bruce, a dog seized in Northern Ireland as being of the Pit Bull type, is still awaiting the appeal on his death sentence. The case was originally heard at Bangor Magistrates Court on 27th August, where Dr Mugford gave evidence stating that Bruce was merely a friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Unfortunately the Magistrates’ concluded that Bruce was of the type and ordered his destruction. However, Bruce’s owner is appealing this decision and following a brief hearing on the 12th November, the case has been listed for mention on 12th January 2009 at which time a date for the appeal will be fixed. Sadly for Bruce this means he’ll be spending more months incarcerated in kennels.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ!!!!!!!
From Thier Local Paper.....
Two weeks after the trial on 27th August, Bruce's owner was back in Bangor Magistrates' Court today, 12th September, to hear the judgment on her dog that would seal his fate. Unfortunately, after hearing evidence from both the defence (Dr Mugford and colleague Raymond Crilly) and prosecution, the Magistrates concluded that Bruce was of the type known as the Pit Bull Terrier and thus should be destroyed. As the 1997 Amendment Act was not incorporated into the Dangerous Dogs Act in Northern Ireland, if a dog is found by the courts to be of a banned breed then it shall be destroyed. Bruce's owner was understandably upset by this news and has lodged an appeal against the judgment. So for now, poor Bruce will remain in kennels and a date will be set for a chance for his owner to contest the destruction order. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more news6 Comments 420 days

I have had a huge number of emails and message re Bruce so figured ill start a thread here and if there is news, ill post it here.
firstly despite some rumours, bruce has not been destroyed. As far as all are aware he is alive although still being held.
In September a hearing of sorts took place. All we know is that either a judgement or a second date should be given two weeks later. To date there has been no news. This is not unusal, legal situations never run quickly nor smoothly.
Shannon has not seen bruce since the start of the year. At that visit his condition was better than the visit before but we have no idea how he is now.
Bruces story hit the BBC news and a new proposal is going forward in NI with public consultation due to start next week. All we can do is wait.
If any news comes through I will post as i hear it. Keep spreading bruces tragic story and help stregthen his chances of coming out of this alive. -

Caroline Rothwell7 weeks agoRepost: Bruce: New hearing to be had. Should have a date for the next hearing, in about 2 weeks time. Bruce remains alive whilst legal avenues are being explored/ongoing. I think we should try DARD again now and those NI Assembly members, let them know bruce is stil alive and held in a kennels whilst this nightmare situation continues.
