First of all, i should probably warn you that what with my wordiness and the awesomeness of New Moon, this is going to be a REALLY long blog....! I would also like to apologise if some of my review is wierdly analytical, i've just finished writing an English essay analysing Adrienne Rich's poetry...

Now that's dealt with....... I know it's a little late, but here's my initial reaction to New Moon:

GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



There is only one word to describe the New Moon movie, and that is perfect.
I went to see it for the third time yesterday, and it's still as amazing as ever

The first time i went to see it, on the friday night, i went to a pretty big theatre. I wasn't really sure what to expect in terms of queues, considering for the entire opening weekend of Twilight the place was practically empty, although i knew that the screening of New Moon i was going to had been sold out for a week, but my friends and i turned up about an hour early to check it out and pick up our tickets. There didn't seem to be any sign of a queue so we went off to Tesco's to buy sweets, but when we came back 10 minutes later the queue was out the door of the cinema - and this wasn't a small cinema! We ended up being about half way down the queue, because even though it was already long, loads of people still kept coming behind us! We still ended up having to sit really close the screen, though (only 3 rows away!), largely because we had to find 5 seats in a row! lol (note to self: go with less friends for Eclipse!) Then again, it was kind of fun being that close - i could see Kristen's contact lenses! haha The atmosphere was amazing, though, with the whole place packed full of rabid excited Twilighters - definitely fun!
The second time i went, on the Sunday, was a smaller theatre, but still pretty full. Unfortunately, a lot of the people there were pretty immature, and a lot of them laughed at the emotional scenes...
The last time i went to see it, yesterday, was also pretty fun, as i think a lot of the people there hadn't read the books - it was funny to hear their reactions to all the 'surprises', and hilarious to see them all fall for what i call 'the Jacob trick' and have mini twigasms every time he appeared shirtless...! (I call this The Jacob Trick, because they're won over by Taylor's awesome abs (alliteration.... check!), but they haven't read the books so they don't really know the full extent of Edward's amazingness..... )

So now, on to the actual movie!

The opening credits = AWESOME. I really liked the eerie way Chris Weitz did this, and when i saw it the first time, you could seriously cut the tension in the room with a knife. Major brownie points there, Chris.

I love that they put the Romeo & Juliet quote at the beginning, just like it is in the book. It made it really real for me (so *hint, hint* David Slade!)

I think the way they did Bella's dream at the start was really good - i had been wondering how they could pull it off without making it look cheesy, but i really loved the way it turned out (also loved the improvements of prettiness to the meadow!)

Vamp-sparkle = well, better than Twilight... haha. Doesn't look like sweat or frost anymore, but it's still not 'perfect'. I don't understand why they have to make it 'shine' out from him in 'rays' like that, it doesn't make any sense. And while it wasn't as obvious as Twilight, they still added a jingling sound to the sparkle - since when does sparkle come with sound effects?!

Skipping on a bit, i just have to say once again that i love, love, LOVE Kellan Lutz as Emmett - Emmett in the birthday scene ("Dating an older woman.... Hot!" & *grins e

NEW MOON WAS AMAZING!! Wanna see it again and again and again, but sadly I don’t have any money, my mum won’t let me go by myself and my mum wants to wait a couple of weeks so the crowds die down! Yeah, that’s sooo gonna happen!! Lol

According this guy on twitter (I know that doesn’t sound very reliable, but fan-sites are relying on him, soo…) these are the latest statistics on how well New Moon did and Twilighters, twi-hards, whatever you want to call yourself …we have done an excellent job! firstly, forgive me if i seem a little distracted in this blog........ because it's only 2 DAYS UNTIL NEW MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to be a pretty quick blog, i won't really be talking about any global twi-news today, mostly just about the New Moon fan event i went to at the weekend, so feel free to just 'forget' to read this one.... i'll understand..... lol

And yes, if any of you guys were in Dublin this weekend for the New Moon release party, would you not agree that it was really good?!!!
It was awesome to finally be able to talk to other people about Twilight, without having to say the word 'Twilight' quietly incase someone overheard me and thought 'oh god, here she goes again...!', without having to feel self-consious about wearing a Twilight t-shirt because everyone else was too, and without having to stop and explain every single reference i made, be it to the books or the movie or an interview or anything!
Yes, as i said, awesome times!

It was also great to get to meet Solomon Trimble (who played Sam in the first movie: "The Cullens don't come here."). He answered fan questions for about an hour, and read some of his poetry (which, if you haven't experienced before, i suggest you go watch him reciting a poem we wrote from Sam to Emily here, as it is Beautiful! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IinQH... ).
I thought that part might end up being a bit boring, because i figured Solomon had been kind of interviewed out by this stage and that i'd heard everything there was to hear, but I did actually hear plenty of new things!
He spoke a bit about his upcoming projects, and read some more of his poetry which I don't think the fandom had heard before, but the thing that surprised me the most is that he actually tried just as hard as Taylor Lautner to keep his role as Sam for the rest of the Saga. I guess I had kind of been under the impression that it had been a minor decision to replace him, since even though we all knew he was 'Sam', he only had 2 lines and was only in the credits as 'Jacob's friend', but to Solomon at least it was a big deal - he spoke about how he worked out every day and filled up on protein from the moment his scenes in Twilight were finished filming - exactly like the story we all recognise as being Taylor's struggle to stay on as Jacob - but ultimately, Chris Weitz decided against keeping him.
I guess, because he was a minor character, the media never picked up on it and so it didn't become a 'big deal' like Taylor did, but it was still saddening to hear that he really had tried that hard.

And OF COURSE, my team won the table quiz!! (Although I was amazed to find one girl at my table actually knew more about the books than me! [only just though... hehe])

All in all, it was a really great experience, and i definitely hope they do one again in the summer for Eclipse.

Lol, sorry if this blog was a disappointment
I'll post another short-ish one on Saturday or Sunday with my reactions to NEW MOON (!!!) (don't worry, i'll put a spoiler warning on it!), and i MIGHT be able to do a 'proper' blog on Tuesday (yay for teachers striking! Tuesday for me = catch up on the last 2-3 weeks of Twicrack day!). If i don't get it done on Tuesday (there was a LOT of Twicrack...!), i'll DEFINITELY have it Friday/Saturday of next week!!
