- WHAT IS HD?
HD (Huntington's Disease) is a hereditary, genetic illness that causes damage in a certain part of the brain.
This stops the brain and body from working as well as they used to, and affects a persons movements, thoughts and behaviour.
People generally start to develop symptoms of HD between the age of 30 and 50.

- THE STAFF
- The youth service currently has two youth advisors and one admin, alongwith lots of volunteers.
Karen Keenan covers the North/East of Scotland and Kirsten Walker covers the South/West of Scotland. Laura Sheffield is based in the Glasgow office, however provides admin support to Kirsten and Karen.

October Activities 2009
Crazy Golf Junior Activity
This year the juniors are invited to attend crazy golf held at Adventure Golf Island in Fife on the 14th of October 2009. It is a Pirate themed course where we will Putt our way amidst waterfalls, fountains, Pirate forts, Palm trees, Tiki Huts and a fully rigged Pirate Ship! It’s going to be a fab day out with all you budding Tiger Woods putting the SHA staff to shame!
Photography Workshops Senior Activities
There will be 2 Photography workshops for the seniors – depending on where you live you will either be invited to the one in Aberdeen or in Edinburgh:-
•The Aberdeen workshop is taking place on the 19th & 20th of October at Peacock Visual Arts.
•The Edinburgh workshop is taking place on the 12th of October. Please note there are only 10 places available for this session and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
They are going to be great days out and we would really like you to join us. If you have any questions please contact Kirsten or Karen xx

Summer Camp 2009!!
This year we are heading to Whithaugh Park in the Scottish Borders for a 5 day action packed, fun-filled summer camp, from the 13th - 17th of July.
Activities which we will do will include: - Abseiling, Archery, Fencing, Kayaking, High Ropes, Gorge Walking, Raft Building and swimming.
We will also be joined by friends from Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, alongwith having one or two special guests!
So keep the 13th - 17th July free and remember to return your consent forms as soon as possible, as places will be on a first come basis.
Look forward to seeing you then!!

All the Best for 2009
Hi everybody,
Just wanting to wish you a Happy New Year (albeit belated).
So what's the gossip. Well....The Christmas activity was held in Edinburgh and a group of 27 of us went to the Bowling, Laser Quest and dinner at TGI Fridays. It was a fab day out (even if it did involve a bit of walking!!!!). There will be pics put up as soon as I find my camera- typical tidied up and put it somewhere 'safe', lol.
The next day out will be during the Easter Holidays, If anybody has any ideas or preferneces give me a message and let me know your thoughts!
Has everybody signed up for the discussion board? We need to get some chats going on there so remeber to check it out www.hdscotland.org/youth then follow link for discusison board. I have to activate your memebership so request to be a friend and as soon as i get the email i'll add you as a member.

I just thought id leave you a message about my 2 day visits .
It was amazing i wasnt in with any of my mates or anyone in my class and i had to make other mates and i did . .I spoke to the guy i speak to in my school . cause he was up anyway . And tbh i cant wait to go up to High School .
