- Me, Myself, and I
- For some time now, people have been wondering what I’m like, what I’m about. So, if I were to describe the tip of my ice-berg, I would say...
I’m Eoin Kelly v Eoin Kelly in an incredible shoot-out,
I’m Ollie Moran battling to the very end,
I’m Mayo’s Urslan Afzal trying to keep tabs on Sligo’s Fabio Cretaro,
I'm Damien Fizthenry performing miracle after miracle,
I'm Brian Whelehan out of retirement,
I’m Leighton Glynn’s sprained ankle,
I’m Davie Fitz complimenting Clare’s Senior Hurling team manager,
I’m Joe Canning pulling on a Galway Senior Hurling shirt this summer,
I’m Henry Shefflin receiving yet another Man of the Match award,
I’m Sean Og’ O’hAilpin’s story,
I’m Sean Og Brady’s story,
But above all, I’m your story,
In a nutshell, I’m the ultimate GAA experience.
To learn more about me, please go to my Blog below, or to www.hurlinggame.com ...however the best way to get to know me is by going to www.pride.ie with your credit card!
- Music
- Those who get to know me are likely to see the influence the likes of Weller, Edwards/Wire, Morrissey, Noonan, Lennon, Bowie, Bellamy, Okereke, Stipes, Waters and Yorke have had upon me. I also enjoy everything that’s published by the Juxtaposition Records label while the guy who came up with the original Sunday Game theme tune definitely has my respect.
Regarding gigs I’ve been to in the last year, I was at Bob Dylan in Nowlan Park last summer and it was probably the best performance I have personally witnessed there since Redser O’Grady’s in the League in 2003.
Regarding music by GAA players, the up-and-coming Sligo hurling star Keith Raymond (DJ Sting Ray) deserves a plug. Ex-Tipp hurler and current Irish soccer international Shane Long is also quite the entertainer with guitar in hand.
I’m really curious to know if any other good hurlers have musical gifts…if you know of any who do, please let me know. - Sports
- Hurling isn’t so bad I suppose! But I’m really into all sports, particularly Gaelic Football, Soccer, Rugby Union, American Football, Baseball and Basketball. As my players will quickly see, all of the aforementioned sports and their respective environments have had a huge influence on how I turned out.
- Happiest...
- ...when I’m popping surprises, building suspense, generating shocks & delivering sureties; When a knowledgeable GAA supporter really challenges my wit and I then get to test the very limits of his/her Hurling intelligence and instincts;
When I’m providing a stage for GAA fans/gamers to not only express themselves but to prove their worth/realise their ambitions;
When I’m analysing your perceptions, emotions, cognitions and actions immediately prior to delivering your unique, personalised story;
When I’m deepening the mystery of inter-county Hurling;
When I bring a smile to the face of others;
When I’ve successfully thrown a kettle over a pub.
I’m always in high spirits when I’m developing new relationships, especially when they are with bright, open-minded individuals. To those of you are unfamiliar with me; I’m sure once you’ve observed the more sociable, warm, sensitive, personal and intimate aspects of my personality that we will go on to spend quite a lot of time together - Scared...
- I’m concerned that more and more people only desire easy wins, cheap thrills & instant gratification. After all, is there anything worthwhile in this life that’s easily attained?
I’m concerned that so many place a higher value on visual/perceptual realism than they do on social realism - I just wonder has The Simpson’s taught our generation anything.
I’m worried that the modern entertainment industry cares more for net profits & gross margins than it does for making a difference.
I’m afraid the greater public will continue to buy into the pretty, efficient but ultimately empty stuff that’s been pushed by most of the big labels.
I’m scared that a growing number of the public have absolutely no idea what they actually like/dislike & that towering billboard ads etc. make their minds up for them.
I fear for the games industry when so many of its base value secondary game attributes ahead of the key primary ones. I also fear that subtlety, originality and imagination have had their day

So what else can I tell you about myself…
I have been designed to recognise your individual personality traits and skills. Because of such, your emotional experience will always be a unique, personalised one.
I can only take you down whatever path you choose to create for yourself.
Those who realise I analyse and compute their every move are the ones most likely to overcome my challenge.
I’m a compilation of those whose thoughts inspire (see page 62 of Game Manual for further details).
I’m as unpredictable as life is.
I’m not frightened to experiment, and nor should you.
I’m 21st Century Ireland.
I’m a microcosm of human behaviour.
I’m a micro level environment puzzle.
To overcome my challenge, you must create like a god, command like a king and work like a slave.
I’ve a huge respect for the Hurling fan’s way of thinking.
I make no bones about being a serious mental challenge.
I feel I’m very compatible with bright, open-minded company.
I have been described as brain-training for Gaels.
However, I’m not as intimidating as some may lead you to believe.
I believe in our generation and I believe in you.
Some creations are designed to primarily appeal to the eye; I was created to primarily appeal to the mind.
If you are more familiar with console-based ‘Action’ games, it is worth noting that there is considerably more to me than meets the fleeting eye so keep looking at me until you ‘see’ me.
However, I’m still hugely comfortable in my skin, which has already won the admiration of many.
Undertaking a series of explorative actions is a great way to get to know me.
The longer you spend with me, the more abstract, and, ironically, the more real you will find me.
At times you will love me; at times you may very well resent me.
If I were unable to unsettle you, I would deem myself a failure.
Become sloppy and you can expect to be punished. However, I’ll reward you when you deserve it too.
I’m pretty intense but I most certainly know how to have a laugh, and one at my own expense for that matter.
My outlook has been heavily influenced by McGregor’s Theory Y approach to management.
I’m an admirer of the calculated gambler.
I’ll continually provide you with carefully structured opportunities, which will allow you to explore, strategise and feel in control of your panel of hurlers.
It is only in ‘first-person perspective’ games like me that you can experience the most fundamental emotions like love, hate, jealousy, curiosity, sorrow and fear.
I build worlds, tell infinite tales and immortalise hurlers.
I have over one thousand unique voices.
I demand your time and commitment.
I will apologise in advance for the late nights, the missed meals and the damaged friendships.
Like most underdogs, I’m unafraid to bite.
I’m also willing to play a guide-dog’s role but only when you are in need of some subtle direction.
I’m all-embracing yet independent.
I wouldn’t dare place a time limit on your thoughts.
I’m too quick to be played anything but slowly.
Is mise Eireannach 100% agus broduil as.
I’m not everything to everyone, nor would I ever want to be.
I imitate no one else because art has no option but to be free.
I’m half the price of the football game.
I would hate to think I’m not at the very least thrice its entertainment value.
My creators have described me as their obsession, joy and torment.
I’ll soon be your obsession, joy and torment.
And now you are the gaffer…the buck stops with you!
