- Me, Myself, and I
- I picked up a pen and wrote my first story after I"d opened my art gallery. I didn"t have time to create artwork so I wrote short stories instead. I had to create, and writing became my pursuit. To my surprise, a passion grew, and words replaced my paints.
I"ve always been a "nerd" (before the term was created) and have worn glasses since the age ten. I"m a computer geek, read graphic novels (favorites right now are Birds of Prey, Batman and Nightwing), watch Japanese anime, and play on my PS2. I"d be at a loss if I couldn"t check my email and surf the "net". Yet, even with all this technology I still love to read a good book. I"m from a family of avid readers, and I devour all genres of literature and non-fiction.
History is another passion. It"s exciting to discover an interesting tidbit or strange event about the past where I can build around a story.

New Release! Light in a Hollow Place
News Bites from Vicki Gaia
Summer 2008
May the coming year bring you joy!
The summer is whizzing by! We're half-way through the year and I'm not nearly as close to finishing my goals as I'd like to be.
I have a working title for my urban fantasy: In the Shadow of the Goddess. I'm a third of the way through the WIP and like all my stories, I keep revising, adding, revising, adding, revising, adding.
I posted an article on my research page - Oh My Goddess! - which will give you an idea on what the story is about. Check it out at
http://www.vickigaia.com/research.htm

The final book in my World War II series, Warring Hearts
LIGHT IN A HOLLOW PLACE IS NOW AVAILABLE AT AWE-STRUCK
The Long and Short of It gave LHP a 4 book rating!
"I am giving this a 4 books, as writing is lovely, and the quality and originality of the story is unquestionable..."Light in A Hollow Place is not merely a follow up to the first two books, but contains yet another original storyline" review by Snapdragon
Coffee Time Romance gave LHP a 4 cup rating!
"Warring Hearts three is an emotionally driven story that is loaded with descriptive details of a war-torn France, just barely coming to life again after the war. Exceptional plots and incredible characters weave an exciting tale of one couple who is trying to save their love while still fighting the after effects of the war."
"But be warned; after reading this book, you will want to read the first two even more. Spicy hot love scenes completes this story making this one spectacular read." reviewed by Wateena
Fallen Angels Review gave it a 4 Angel rating:
"Vicki Gaia does an excellent job guiding readers through this intricate story, introducing us gradually to the large cast of characters. Post war Paris provides a vivid backdrop, historical details setting the scene yet not detracting from the plot. And what a plot! Spies, mysterious puzzle boxes, dead priests, the action never stops. When I thought I had everything figured out, I turned the page and found out I was wrong. Light In A Hollow Place will keep readers guessing." reviewed by Kimber
The final book in my WWII trilogy is now in digital format. The print book is right behind, and will be released soon. It will be available on Amazon. I'm excited to have the final book published, and hope my readers enjoy the conclusion to Claire and Richard's love story.

New Release/First Contemporary
I'm excited to announce the digital release of my new contemporary romance from Awe-Struck Ebooks - http://www.awe-struck.net/AUTHORS49/...
Title: Gracie and the Bad Hat
Author: Vicki Gaia
Release date: December 14, 2007
Genre: Contemporary romance
ISBN: 978-1-58749-641-7
Formats: HTML, MS Reader, Mobipocket, PDF, Sony, CDs and downloads
Grace O'Shaughnessy, a hat maker who lives in San Francisco, is determined to find a perfect man to love. Left at the altar because her ex-fiancé had considered her too high-maintenance, Grace makes a list of the qualities she's looking for in Mr. Right. Never again will she date an irresponsible guy. Dedicating her list to Jane Austen, the way she sees it, Ms. Austen's heroines always chose the gentleman over the rake. Everything is going according to plan, until she wakes up naked in bed with a stranger! Well, not a complete stranger…but a photographer she'd met at his opening. Living in the seediest neighborhood in San Francisco, he's definitely not a suitable choice for a serious relationship.
Not at all a gentleman, Steven Levy is a man Grace's mother would consider a bad hat. Worse yet, he sets out to get Gracie back into his bed, viewing her as a delicious challenge. Reeling from a bad affair, he wants nothing to do with love, but Gracie, with her long legs, honey color hair, and crazy hats intrigues him. Ready to prove her wrong about that damn list of hers, why can't she realize finding a perfect man isn't the same as shopping for groceries?
To Grace's annoyance, Steven pops up everywhere! He won't go away, and the more she's with him the more their attraction grows. He shows her a side of the city she's never explored. There is more to Steven Levy than Grace first thought, and she's tempted to rip up her list. Anyone who loves his grandmother the way Steven does can't be all that bad.
Falling in love, Grace can't help how he makes her feel sexy and so alive. But she comes to realize that Steven harbors secrets – a crazy mother and an ex-girlfriend who wants him back. If that's not bad enough, he doesn't want children. How can she commit to a man who doesn't want a family?
Breaking off their relationship, Grace plans to move on, but an unexpected gift makes it difficult. Knowing in his heart Gracie is the only woman he needs, can Steven become the man she desires?
San Francisco is the backdrop of this sexy contemporary romance. Can a hat maker and a bad hat find true happiness?

Hitler and Mars Bars63 weeks agoThanks for adding me to your friends. It's good to see that history is one of your passions - mine too. That's one reason I chose to write an historical fiction and not any other type of novel.

Today I smiled, and all at once things didn't look so bad.
Today I shared with someone else, a bit of hope I had.
Today I sang a little song, and felt my heart grow light,
And walked a happy little mile, with not a cloud in sight.
Today I worked with what I had and longed for nothing more,
And what had seemed like only weeds, were flowers at my door.
Today I loved a little more and complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself, I forgot my weariness...♥ -
