ROBERT HOOD
The E.C Crew are delighted and highly-anticipating the appearance from the godlike Rob Hood come to show us how it's done........
Robert Hood needs little introduction.Founding member of the legendary group Underground Resistance as a 'Minister Of Information' with ‘Mad’ Mike Banks & Jeff Mills, his seminal works on Jeff Mill's Axis and his very own M-Plant imprint paved the way for a wave of stripped-down dance floor minimalism that directed much of techno's path throughout the late Nineties.Since the early 90s, the Detroit native has been pushing the boundaries of dance floor techno. The architect of minimalism, Hood's 90s releases like 'Minimal Nation', 'Internal Empire' and 'Nighttime World' are classic works, joining the dots between searing, visceral rhythms, hypnotic repetition and jazz-infused musicality. He was born (in 1965) and raised in Detroit.Growing up in Detroit, he grew up with Motown in the house - a lot of Motown and Philadelphia soul. Having recorded for Metroplex, as well as the Austrian Cheap label and Jeff Mills' Axis label, Hood also owns and operates the M-Plant imprint (including the two sublabels Drama and Duet) through which he has released the bulk of his solo material..Fast forward 15 years and Hood's impact on electronic music is as strong as ever.Having inspired a new generation of minimal music makers the Hoodmusic series as well as the dizzying ferocity of his Fabric mix CD keep the former UR operative at the forefront of cutting edge techno.Internal, introspective, inward-looking - all of these terms are apt when it comes to describing Robert Hood's music. But in an age where the latest minimal promos are zipped from mixing desk to inbox to obscurity in a matter of days and weeks, Robert Hood's detached timelessness is, paradoxically, a force to be reckoned with. He's an outsider looking in, an almost alien presence who connects on his own terms, in his own unique way. And ultimately, that may just make him the perfect embodiment of everything techno is supposed to be about.
This is one show you don't want to miss..When the Master Builder sends shock waves through the VOID System.
There shall be 100 signed copies of a limited rare mix cd constructed by the master builder himself, Robert Hood, at Electric Circus. The CD's are €11
Support on the night comes from Electric Circus originator Niall Power and longest serving resident David Halligan.

CHYMERA back to play Electric Circus
Saturday (4th April) Recession Session # 11 Vol 2 - Electric Circus presents Chymera
Chymera (real name Brendan Gregoriy) hails originally from Cork, Ireland. Throughout his teenage years he was heavily immersed in various forms of guitar based music, from metal to folk. After moving to Limerick for a year at the turn of the century to attend college he was first exposed to electronic music. Upon his subsequent move to Dublin he had thrown himself headfirst into DJing, quickly latching onto the various sounds of techno. In 2002 he made his first steps into production and over the following years progressed through electronica and electro to more dancefloor friendly techno and house.
In late 2006 and early 2007 he had his first international releases on labels Urban Torque (As I Am An Exit), Supreme Entertainment and Mezzotinto, the latter of which; "Midnight at the Aquarium", swiftly brought him to the attention of many house and techno luminaries. He followed those up with key releases on labels like Ovum, NRK and Delsin, further cementing his trademark melodic sound in the minds of DJs and music aficionados alike. "Arabesque" released on Tishomingo became possibly his most popular track when Luciano used it as his finale at many gigs. It was also licensed to several high profile mixes on Global Underground (by Felix Da Housecat), Renaissance (by Sander Kleinenberg) and Fabric (by Luciano). As a result of the success of the beatless mix of "Umbrella" (Ovum), he was voted third best chillout artist in the 2007 beatport awards.
2008 has seen him relocate to Barcelona in Spain, and also adopt a more considered approach to releases, with tracks on Connaisseur and Figure which have won him more acclaim and broader critical recognition. His DJ and live schedule is also booming and has taken him from Russia to Japan and all throughout Europe. Chymera live sets are an energetic mix of assorted Chymera favourites and unreleased bombs and each set is unique and unpredictable. Never one to simply arrive to a gig and press play on a pre-arranged recording, his sets are improvised and change continously in a fluid reaction to the crowd and mood, never losing the groove. When Djing he is equally at home playing a smooth set of blissed out deep house, or a peaktime energetic techno set (and preferably all in the same set) depending on the mood of the particular night.
Support on the night comes from two of the best house dj's in Waterford but none have made more of a impact than our very own Will Power who has set the pace, tone and the rest for some of the biggest names in the buisness and its ture to say the man cant wait.Opening procedings is Paul (pawlie) Smith

STEVE RACHMAD
Electric Circus presents a Waterford debut of STEVE RACHMAD
Recession Session # 9 Door's are at 9pm arrive early to avoid disappointment and of course Adm is just €10
After a wicked Birthday Celebration with Technasia,E.C returns with part # 9 of the recession sessions with Techno high light Steve Rachmad [aka sterac] Steve Rachmad is a Dutch techno producer, DJ and remixer. By many, he is considered a father of Detroit techno in the Netherlands, respected in the world of electronic music for his deep, groovy sounds that tend to rest on impressive strings, melodies, funk and soul. His career has been reaching its highest peaks from 1996 up to the present time. Yet, it is somewhat less known that he has been in the music realms for over 25 years by now.
Steve’s life story starts in Amsterdam. At the age of 12, teenage Steve already starts buying his first records: to mix, remix, and cut-and-paste their parts with an open reel tape deck. In such a cut-and-paste fashion, he presented his first release in the mid-1980s. Among these early releases was also the one created for a hip-house/dance artist Tony Scott.
From that time on, Steve finds his inspiration in the 1980s dance and electro, works of former Time members (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis), The System, Arthur Baker, to name but a few. At the age of 15, he also starts his DJing career with a disco set in a small Amsterdam club. Nevertheless, his love for music urges him to start buying equipment, which would later result in a professional studio that is, according to him, “everything he ever dreamt of having.” Today, his equipment is mainly analogue, providing him with a chance to explore the realms of warm, alive, non-static sounds. He laid the corner stone of this collection in 1985, by getting a TR-808.
A year later, Steve gets introduced to the house music. His attention is captured by the new sounds echoing mostly from Detroit and Chicago, i.e. by the work of artists such as Mr. Fingers and Derrick May. Following their style, Steve’s own style takes a new direction. He is soon to be found releasing for artists like Darren Emerson and Derrick May.
The incoming years are to be marked by numerous successful releases on labels such as 100% Pure, Cocoon, Underwater, Fragile, M-Plant, Tresor, and the recent years on labels as Sino, Delsin, Music Man, Artless, etc. He also made over a hundred remixes, signed under various pseudonyms. He remixed a variety of artists, from Taksi, Derrick May and John Tejada, to Armand van Helden, Club MCM, Armin van Buuren and Basement Jaxx. Among Steve’s most respected releases is certainly his album “Secret Life of Machines,” which came out in 1996 under his pseudonym Sterac, and is up to this date considered as one of the all-time techno classics. About the same time his DJing path starts rapidly evolving as well. Until today, Steve shares his talent with the crowds all over the World. He occasionally spins disco and electro, but mainly techno.
Of all the fictitious names he used throughout his career to sign his productions, Sterac, Sterac Electronics, Ignacio and Parallel 9 ,he also releases more and more under his real name. His Sterac Electronics remixes of the vocal track Love Sweet Love (by Clashing Egos), Keep on Running (by Sweet Coffee) and Body Language (by M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade), and his own “Keep on running” and “Night Heat” releases on Music Man Records have ended up in the record bags of a wide variety of artists, from techno, to minimal, house and electro. He re-confirms his reputation as an artist with exquisite ear for technical qualities of sound, always returning to his soulful roots and maintaining the warmth of analogue-produced music.
Over the years, Steve lost the count of his productions and remixes. However, he built an oeuvre that is without a doubt of a high magnitude: both quality and quantity-wise. Unfortunately, his busy DJ schedule puts a limit on the time he wou0 Comments 235 days
