- The Belgian trio, Colour Kane, are a new breed of dream popsters. The band deliver lush cascading guitars and sweet soaring vocals propelled by driving bass and electronic beats. Colour Kane’s music draws a wonderful arc that both defines and divides melancholy and bliss. Where so much dream pop is described through aesthetic alone, Colour Kane radiate atmosphere and shifted emotion wrapped in jewelled blankets and honey gauze.
The band developed from the seeds of Abricot, comprising Belgian music scene veterans Bruno Kimpe and Joeri Gydé. The pair teamed up with vocalist Marjan Snykers and Colour Kane was borne.
The band’s music found Cocteau Twin, Robin Guthrie, who offered his support, ultimately leading to the band supporting Robin during his Lumière shows in Belgium. In addition Colour Kane’s soon to be released debut album, “A Taste Of” features a Robin Guthrie remixed track.
The band has also collaborated with Swedish producer and driving force behind Glorybox, Fredrik Johansson, leading to the remix of Colour Kane’s “Too Late”, the first single to be taken from “A Taste Of”.

Colour Kane Playing On WWUH Radio
If you were lucky enough to catch the last episode of the “Ambience” show on the Connecticut radio station, WWUH 91.3 FM you would have heard large slabs of the new Colour Kane album as well as tracks by other HSR artists such as Slow Dancing Society, Sankt Otten and Wes Willenbring. Check out the show for more slices from the HSR pie over the coming months.

Catalogue Now Available Through Rhapsody
The Hidden Shoal Recordings catalogue is now available through the Rhapsody digital music store. Add this to the existing digital distribution network of iTunes, eMusic, Sony Connect and the HSR Store and you’ll see there’s no excuse for not grabbing some of the finest releases to hit your ears of recent times. “A Taste Of” by Colour Kane Now Available
Hidden Shoal Recordings, have announced the pre-release of the album, “A Taste Of” by Belgian dream pop outfit, Colour Kane.
Featuring a collaboration with Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins fame, “A Taste Of” is laden with honey coated, magisterial guitars, sweeping electronics and lush vocals. The title track encapsulates the album with its exquisite interplaying guitars ringing out against the ethereal voice of Marjan Snykers. As with the rest of the album, this song finds that unique emotive space where sonic majesty and melodic craftsmanship paint the sky with a rich and immersive melancholy.- Press Release Excerpt.
“A Taste Of” is now available as a pre-release exclusively from the HSR Store. The album will see official release in May 2007 where it will be available from all good digital music stores such as Itunes, eMusic, Sony Connect and Rhapsody.
