- FAQ : How is Tadhg pronounced?
Answer : It's pronounced like "tiger" without the "er" sound"
Released "The Sparks EP" myself. A-Listed on Phantom FM. Nationwide tour with Bell X1.
Recorded debut album. Released Wax & Seal in March 2005 in Ireland. Garnered many TV and Radio appearances north and south of the border later, including features on KCRW's legendary Morning Becomes Eclectic in LA.
The Irish Times said, "Tadhg Cooke's solo debut crisscrosses so many terrains that your musical compass may quiver with the sheer magnetic challenge of Wax & Seal" and, giving it 4 stars, described the record as "eminently likeable, utterly enviable".
HotPress said "Success and acclaim is very much his for the taking", and called it "a confident impressive debut".
Released Live At Saint Kevin's (Nov 2006), a recording of a secret living room gig, in Ireland.
Released Wax & Seal in Japan (19th November 2006).

Marks, Sparks & Orbitals
Dear (sugar-sprinkled, cinnamon, Christmassy) Cookies,
It's been a while since my last mail, so I'll gather together the past few month's happenings in brief for you in a moment, but before that I must tell you about something happening tomorrow in Dublin's fair city...
Tomorrow, Friday 21st December, from 2-5pm, in Marks & Spencer's, Grafton Street, Dublin 2
2FM will be broadcasting Rick O'Shea's radio show featuring performances from ...
Duke Special, Cathy Davey, PJ Gallagher, Neil Delamere, and of course David Geraghty (featuring Clare Finglass & myself). Dave, Clare & myself will be playing at around 4pm (approximately - as always!). Do join us on Grafton Street if you're around, or tune in online - www.rte.ie/2fm.
I'll leave everything else for the round-up. Thanks a million for all the support, emails, purchases, etc, over the past year. We're itching to get this new album on the road.
Nollaig shona agus Athbhliain Nua daoibh!
(Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all!)
Tadhg
...and so without further ado, here's the round up :
FREE TUNES
To make your festive season complete, there are two FREE tunes that you must get your mittens on :
1. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - featuring three incredibly talented musicians : Cora Venus Lunny on violin, Dave Redmond on double-bass & Colm Quearney on electric guitar. This was recorded before a live audience. Listen carefully for the penny dropping. Literally. http://www.tadhgcooke.com/ccount/cli...
2. Thank God It's Christmas - This is a cover of a Queen tune that was performed on Monday by David Geraghty, Clare Finglass and myself in Spin FM. The Breakfast Xpress show has been podcasted on iTunes, so just do a wee search for it, and you'll hear the interview and the tune. Enjoy!
LIVE ON THE ORBITAL - NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
You can now listen to some new songs (taken from the Live on the Orbital recordings) on our myspace page. You can buy the whole album (in high quality mp3 format) from our online store now. We're still waiting for the Live on the Orbital film to be completed. Leaves on the line, sheep on the tracks, whatever. You decide. Anyway, in the meantime, the recordings from the show are now for sale in our online shop. Hurrah! The online shop can be found at www.tadhgcooke.com/shop
So as you can see, we've launched the new Ivy Court Records shop, which now sells CDs AND mp3s. Which reminds me that CDBaby, based in Portland, Oregon, also sells mp3s now in addition to the CD sales that have made its name. You can them here : www.cdbaby.com/all/tadhgcooke
DEMAND A SHOW!
For those of you who'd like us to play in your area, there's a nice program called Eventful that we've placed on our myspace page. You click on the "demand it!" button, and enter the city/town or hamlet where you'd like us to play. It's an interesting way to keep track of these things. Hopefully it will help us plan our US tour when the new album comes out.

STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK - TEMPLE STREET HOSPITAL
Dublin's FM104 have released a CD to help raise funds for Temple Street Children's Hospital (Dublin). The album is called : STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK - BEST OF UNCOVERED UNPLUGGED. It's an album of covers performed by artists including Duke Special, The Thrills, Director, Republic of Loose, Alabama 3, Natasha Bedingfield and a whole load of others. Dave Geraghty & myself performed a version of Steve Winwood's "Valerie" for the record. The album is available from : CDWorld.ie.

Live on the Orbital
Cookies!
If you haven't already spotted it... there are some new tracks on Bebo for you to listen to/add... They're the live tracks we recorded in London earlier this year with a fabulous bunch of musicians (Colm Quearney, Cora Venus Lunny & David Redmond). Do listen in. We're still waiting for the film to arrive!
Also, David Geraghty's debut album Kill Your Darlings is out and to support this his band is embarking on a tour around Ireland. Visit Dave's sites to get the full details, but we're in Cork, Clonakilty, Galway, Dublin, Limerick and Portlaoise over the next week or two so stay on the look out. It's an amazing band (despite my involvement!) so catch them live if you can.
That's all for now really.
Take care!

Fantastic night dude! thank a million for making the long trip down. Locals still talking about it others raging they missed it. John and Mary want you and steve back at your convenience to play for a charity night fundraising for Cancer. Would be a massive session with loads more musicians. Let me know if your interested. Plenty of room at the Inn if you need to stay. Will see if Lorcan want to pop over with the Violin.
Thanks again. I bet the young Coolaboola's will be only too pleased!
All is good with me. Struggling with the ol' 6th year but sure, not long to go now. Coolaboola has been sort of on hold for a while but we have some nice plans, all going well. Will be good to get it back going again
Video sounds luffly - looking forward to seeing that

So glad to be part of your fans! I discovered you last year in this small club in Harcourt street, and loved your music and your voice! Now I'm back to France (working in a venue) and I'd love to see you live again. Have you got a kind of tour planned somewhere? I could help you to book some dates in France if you are interested???
Anyway, can't wait to buy your live album!

well fella, enjoyed the gig thurs night in the cruiscín, well played
Hey Belle
We met your sister (whose name I can't recall) and Dad just beside Father Matthew Street - you know the wee foot bridge. We were on the way to An Cruiscín Lán for our soundcheck. I had no idea who they were. Dave filled me in afterwards. Then it made more sense. We couldn't chat though 'cause we were already late (or thought we were - turns out we could have chatted, but sure that's hindsight for you). Best of luck with your reintegration! Howdy to Donogh!
