About Me

Me, Myself, and I
I'm Paul. The one leaning out the window on the left! Not all that much to say really about myself. If you want to know anything, just leave a comment or add me on MSN.

Am 20, live in Spondon in Derby. I currently work at the Midland Railway - Butterlery in Ripley.

I currently work and also volunteer at The Midland Railway - Butterley, which is near Alfreton and just below Ripley in Derbyshire. I am a qualified passenger Guard and am also a fireman on steam engines. I also run the model railway layout at Butterley Station from time to time.

If you want to add me on MSN it's trainmadpaul@hotmail.com
Television
Doctor Who, of course. Utterley fantastic program - don't normally mind a good chat about that! Dead Ringers, Little Britain, few other things as well. Don't like soaps though! Like a lot of older shows - Anderson puppet shows like Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet I'm a fan of (loads of interesting facts and models to look at); The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy is genius and such a fantastic show as well.
Films
The Back to the Future Trilogy; Indiana Jones Trilogy; Star Wars Orginal Trilogy; Thunderbirds are Go; Thunderbird 6; Wallace and Gromit - The Curse of the Were Rabbit; The Titfield Thunderbolt; Train of Events; Goldeneye; For Your Eyes Only; Casino Royale.
Music
Almost anything by Queen and The Carpenters; Doctor Who Soundtrack; various music composed by Barry Gray; Ah Ha - Take On Me; Boney M - Rasputin; David Bowie - Starman; Culture Club - Karma Chameleon; Diana Ross & The Supremes - Stop! In The Name Of Love; Katrina & the Waves - Walking On Sunshine; Madness - It Must Be Love; Survivor - Eye of the Tiger; Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go; Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody; Zontar - You F'n Love It; ZZ Top - Doubleback; The Beatles - Penny Lane; Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now; Quincy Jones & His Orchestra - Soul Bossa Nova; Pattie Labelle - If You Asked Me To; Softcell - Tainted Love; Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells; Katrina and the Waves - Love Shine A Light; Huey Lewis & the News - Power of Love; Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street; Celine Dion - Beauty and the Beast; ELO - Mr. Blue Sky

Went to run the model railway today during the Steam and Diesel event.

47401, 73129 and the 127 were out and about. Heard that 47327 (as Thomas) had derailed at Bressingham Museum.

    Pictures added to Bebo!

Had my Music Technology exams today. I don't think either was too bad to be honest, but the first was defiantly the harder of the two. It wasn't really the questions that were hard, it was the amount of time you had to do the questions.

Once they were out of the way, I decided to go to the railway. Instead of taking the usual Ilkeston Flyer back to Derby and catching the 9.1 to Butterley, I decided to catch the Black Cat (with new Optare buses) and then swap to the R1 in Heanor.

The first half went alright, but then the R1 didn't appear in Heanor, so I just caught the H1 to Newlands Inn and walked through the (by now very soggy) country park to Swanwick Junction - not a good idea in jeans, which don't dry out that quickly!

Got to the model railway at about half past one, and generally had a laugh instead of playing trains due to the lack of people actually there (what do you expect on a Thursday during term time?)

Kev arrived at about half past 3, and we all had quite a laugh; Kev retrieving his 'Lima Shunter which resembles nothing and used to be a 37' from a pot of motor oil, which he'd left outside for about 3 days to take the paint off!

Alex and I left at about half past five and I went home. Watched Sky High on ITV1 then went on the computer for a while.

Alright, I've not posted on this blog for nearly a year. Why? Well, I don't really know to be honest. I guess it just got very boring for me to do so.

Fair enough, this will probably go the same way, a lot of my days are really rather 'the same' but at the moment - due to me finishing college today, it might be quite interesting. I hope.

That aside, I have enjoyed college somewhat. Alright, I've moaned about it, but who doesn't do that from time to time? It doesn't feel odd that I've finished, I've not 'left' yet as such due to exams not actually being over.

Lets see how my exams actually go, and where my life leads me after that... it might be quite interesting...

    Or not.

thats always nice if the mp3 player has decent music i must admit my mp3 player is normally on in my mates car coz we like similar stuff but she always asks me to skip over almost every mcfly song :/

tesco is always the main attraction at lunch/free periods and in an emergency. i was assistant stage manager at one of the college productions last year and i had to make a 'fake' cake with the use of real cream and icing at one point i ran out of icing so i asked a mate to take me down to tesco lol

pretty sure we wernt hiding anything... well of significant value... there were sweets, and clothes mostly lol

if theyd have checked the bag then they might have been a tad suspicious

music tech eh? i always find alot of guys interested in music tech.. i had a bit of an interest for a start.. just never really got the chance to properly study it. our sixth form tends to get a bit boring but recently we've had a tv installed. supposed to be on news and factual channels.. its mostly been on the hits, tmf, e4 and dave.. oh yeah when the tv was first watched cbeebies was on.. have no idea why, i had just walked intp the common room

i remember when we crossed the border between czech republic and poland the train stopped at 2am the the immigration dudes just came in turned on the light and we just handed our passports to him, there was a pile of suitcases in the middle of the couchettes he never even looked the slightest bit suspicious (we wernt hiding anyone just to clarify) although the people sleeping on the top bunk could have gotten away with it

first year it was English Lit, Performing Arts and Sociology passed 1 out of the three which was performing arts, this year Performing arts, Theatre Studies and ICT passed 2 out of three so may go back and try A2

(that was a long reply lol)
