- Welcome to the Glasgow Caledonian University STUDENTS ASSOCIATION Bebo page!
The main function of GCUSA is to REPRESENT students at GCU.
It does this at a number of levels, ensuring the Students' Association is run as students want it to be, working with the University to improve the student experience, and at a local and national level on issues affecting our students.
Loads of information on welfare issues, sports and societies, and student development can be found on our website.

win a trip for two to Paris
A national cancer charity is giving students the chance to win a trip for two to Paris in a bid to raise awareness of lymphoma – the most common cancer in the 15-30 age group.
To help make students aware of the symptoms of the disease, the Lymphoma Association has created a simple acronym: PITS – Persistent lumps, Itching, Tiredness and Sweating. And in order to get the PITS message out, they’re launching a fun and attention-grabbing online competition.
Students are encouraged to pitfart (a noise made by cupping your hand over your armpit) and upload a clip of their skills via the campaign hub at www.pitfart.com.
Winning the competition is simple; the student whose video receives the highest number of views will gain the trip to Paris, which was kindly donated to the charity by The Flight Centre.
While visiting the website, students will also read about the signs and symptoms of lymphoma.
Ian Leech, whose 20 year old daughter Mel died of lymphoma in 2008 said: “It’s so important for young people to have an awareness of lymphoma. With the benefit of hindsight, we can see that before Mel was diagnosed she had a lot of the classic symptoms but, of course, having no knowledge of the disease, we were unable to recognise them. Had we been aware, things may have been different. This campaign will ensure that the UK’s students will gain the hindsight that sadly, we didn’t have.”
Julie Mercer, Head of Communications for The Lymphoma Association said: “We’re really excited about the campaign and have had some fantastic feedback by people who had been affected by lymphoma. Research shows that standard health messages generate a poor level of awareness among the student age group, so we’re hoping that a tongue-in-cheek competition and a trip to Paris will raise consciousness of the disease and its symptoms”.
The Lymphoma Association is launching the campaign, which will run until 2nd March 2010, on Monday 2nd November.
To enter the competition or to find out more about lymphatic cancer, please visit www.pitfart.com or contact the Lymphoma Association’s Freephone Helpline on 0808 808 5555.0 Comments 2 days

Coral Castle21 weeks agoExtra Terrestrials are real and they have been visiting this planet for thousands of years. Our current understanding of the universe is rapidly approahing a new unified view. Garrett Lisi new E8 theory of everything predicts gravito electromagnetic phenomena that allows for anti-gravity propulsion by either rotating a large mass or polarising the vaccum energy. The manipulation of gravity waves allows for space travel across many lightyears. Combine that with chances of life existing elswhere and it makes a pretty good case that ETs are here and have been for a long time. Probably having something to do with the pyramids unless of course you can prove to me primative men with vine rope and copper tools can build three massive structures to within 1/4 inch accuracy of perfection.
