- A god complex is a term used to portray a perceived character flaw as if it were a 'psychological complex'. The person who is said to have a 'god complex' does not believe he is God, but is said to act so arrogantly that he might as well believe he is a god or appointed to act by a god.
GOD COMPLEX..
A god complex is a term used to portray a perceived character flaw as if it were a 'psychological complex'. The person who is said to have a 'god complex' does not believe he is God, but is said to act so arrogantly that he might as well believe he is a god or appointed to act by a god.
Steve and Andy first met over twenty years ago during the days of breakdancing and bodypopping. Steve was a member of the notorious B-Boy Crew Atomic Force and Andy was already making music on his Amiga 500. The guys became friends shortly after when Steve sold him a Roland TR-808 drum machine, and the friendship blossomed from there on.
rap versus electronika
Steve was however more into rap at the time and was fairly succesful in his rap crew The Thunderboys along with Daniel Spencer (Soul Mekaniks) and Daz Willot (Gods Kitchen)
It was on the eve of the new millenium that the guys officially formed God Complex to compete in Signal Radio Battle of the bands competition.
Battle of the bands
The lads battled through two rounds and finished runners up. The track 'All alone' which was written on a Roland 303 was featured on the album 'Into the millenium' and was released by Flycatcher records.
Playing live
The guys continued playing live wherever they could, but the real breakthrough came by reversing time and going back to the old skool hip hop from where it all started. The guys were listening to an old tape cassette of the 'The Thunderboys from 1988 and Steve decided to write an old skool rap. The responce was phenominal and the Myspace page set up just for that one track called 'Body Pop' got over 1000 plays in just under a week.
The track was picked up by Radio Stoke Subculture and was a firm favourite for over six weeks.
The addition of raps and vocals over their initial electronic sound, has opened up a whole new world to the duo. The hip hop community and the electronic scene both welcoming them with open arms. The guys have headlined at both Bitjam and Hip Hop @ Fatcats, aswell as supporting acts like Parradox at The underground and Revolutions.
whats new?
God complex has recently been featured on StokeSound.com as the featured artist of the week.DJ Terry joined the guys at thier home studio as they were putting the finishing touches to there latest track, which will feature on the forthcoming album in the new year.
The guys talk about there influences, projects, and amazingly the days when DJ Terry was in the audience to see the Atomic Force doing a breakdancing display. DJ Fresh also plays homage to the other big names in the area such as Parradox
