- Hiya,
I suppose I'd better get round to having a bebo page.
For those who knew me way back, I've grown up a lot since Dunshalt and Falkland Primary Schools and good ol' Class 1C/2C/3C S4 at crappy Bell Baxter High School!
But really just the same old Ross, just older and wiser!
My main claim to fame so far is doing that remix of the Queen song that ended up being used on the official DVD and as the warm-up tape before most Queen gigs since 2004ish.
(didn't get anything for it though! Brian May must have needed the money to buy a new wig or something!!)
My main website is at http://www.flossfm.com and is mostly about my music mixes and my college courses although that hasn't been updated for ages.
- Music
- Chicane, Barenaked Ladies, Marillion, Fish, Queen, Tim Mahoney, Michelle Branch, Then Jerico, Tiffany Hull, Annagrey, Donna Lewis, Billie Myers, Les Stroud and The Pikes.

- Scared Of
- Nothing. Something only appears to scare you when you dont fully know and understand what it is.

- Doing anything and doing nothing.
- TV

- Stovies
- Chop and sweat down three or four onions.
Add up to a bulb of roughly chopped garlic.
Add some soy sauce.
Just before the onions & garlic start to get too brown, add as many peeled and quartered potatoes as will fit in the pot.
Add enough chicken or beef stock to cover over the potatoes; Stock cubes or real stock can be used or anything that tastes like stock such as Chicken Bovril or even gravy.
Add as much corned beef as desired, broken into small lumps distributed evenly around the pot.
Cook on a low heat for anything up to three hours occasionally stirring to stop it from catching on the base of the pot, until the potatoes have mushed down. Consistency should be near that of mashed potatoes but with large lumps in.
Serve. Eat. Burp.
Yummy.

Flood 2009: The wrath of the chicken farm
For some reason we chose the day that was forecast torrential rain to go to Ikea in Edinburgh. Coming back, most of the main roads towards Freuchie were blocked by floods. We had to turn back on both the A912 Falkland to New Inn road and the B996 Falkland to Freuchie road. Ironically the only road we could get through was the backroad between Dunshalt and Freuchie that is notorious for flooding!
As you can see from the photo album, the flood was just getting going when we got back, shortly before dusk. It wasn't the burn that was overflowing, rather the water flowing from the chicken farm road, down the C23 and into Freuchie Mill. The drains couldn't cope so it simply pooled up, much like filling up a giant swimming pool.
Fortunately this time everyone got their cars out okay. Several fire engines turned up and started to pump the water away as best they could. Actually as I type this, 5.45pm, I can still hear them pumping away.
As we had no sandbags, the residents of Freuchie Mill built a makeshift wall across the road to try and divert the water away and into a field towards the burn by digging out some old discarded breeze blocks and mounds of earth. It actually worked quite well considering. Even Angie and I piched in and helped. Sods law dictated that I cut my hands on the sharp stones while digging out the blocks from an embankment by the farm cottages. Ouch.
Someone from Kingdom housing and Fife Council turned up to see what was happening. The council guy brought some sandbags (bit fecking late). Kingdom have had 18 months to do something about the flooding since last year and they have done nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nada.
Will update later on. Bang goes tonight's chinky! lol!

Upon the roof...
What a surprise! Our roof leaks.
On the day of the flood, our next door neighbour's roof leaked and trashed her living room. As the roof is common to us as well, the last time we had a downpour I popped the attic hatch and had a look:
Water was pouring in through at least one of the air vents and I could hear water pissing in the far side too. One emergency phone call to Kingdom Housing Association's repairs line and they weren't even going to bother sending someone to look at it until sometime the next day. When told of our neighbours problems they eventually agreed to send an inspector immediately.
But all he did was say that he'd arrange for the roofing people to come and fix it the next day. The same clowns that supposedly fixed the roof the week before. He didn't even bother taking a look himself.
I recall that when we came round to first look at the flat, before we moved in, there were several large holes in the ceeling. When we asked what the problem was, the housing woman said she didn't know and changed the subject fast.
It just so happens that the same areas are where the water has been coming in.
There is a surprise, Kingdom denying there is a problem and simply papering over the problem (or plastering over it in this case).
The roofing monkeys eventually came and hammered and swept(?) for a while before buggering off. They didn't do anything about the soaking wet insulation in the attic and the damp plasterboard. It just so happens that the areas where that water came in, the insulation had been piled high like someone knew there is a problem and wanted to try and absorb the water.
It'd be nice if they actually just spent the money and fixed the root of the problem for a change. Fix it properly too. But I guess they are too busy spending the money on fancy company cars and stupidly high salaries for the association bigshots. They certainly keep bumping up the rent year after year.
They brag that ninety whatever percent of problems are fixed within a few days and that they have another ninety whatever percent tenant satisfaction for the repairs. Who the hell are they kidding?

It never rains but it pours...
On Wednesday 13th August about 3am it started bucketing with rain. Really pissing it down. Like the kind of torrential downpour you get in a thunder storm only this one lasted at three hours. By 6am, all of the houses at Freuchie Mill were under a foot of water and the entire car park was under at least five feet, writing off at least 20 cars in the process. Mine included.
As you can see from the photos, taken from about 7.30 when the water had dropped by about a foot, Freuchie Mil got some of that "global warming", extreme weather indeed.
Apparently there was a minor flood about 13 years ago and it was identified to Kingdom Housing Association, who own Freuchie Mill, that several storm drains that are around the building hadn't been maintained. Fast forward to 2008 and we find that someone had dumped an old carpet over one... So nobody had been checking or clearing them. I know one blocked drain doesn't a flood make but it certainly doesn't help. Who is to blame? I don't know. You can draw your own conclusions.
All I know is that from my experience of Kingdom Housing is that if there is a problem, it is very difficult to get them to actually rectify it.
Our previous flat in Dysart had damp. You could see where a blocked drain had clearly been overflowing into the foundations but of course, it was just interior condensation to them...
Doesn't matter that most our our clothes were ruined with mould and that the walls were mouldy. We had to buy a dehumidifier at our own expense!
Then there was the pigeon poo problem. It took months of complaining to get them to do anything about it and all that was, was to put up spike strips which promptly fell back down!
All I can say is that I'm glad we moved from there.
Anyway, back to the floods. I was out taking pictures and video clips. As far as I know they have been used by the BBC, The Daily Record, The Associated Press and The Courier. Most rags give me credit for the photos but I noticed that Daily Record didn't which is annoying.
So if anything would like to contribute to the replacement car fund, let me know and I'll send you my paypal email address!
