- Data is a part of the Niamh Louise Foundation Youth Forum. We are the youth of many communities wishing to raise awareness of suicide & self-harm. The group is centered around Northern Ireland initially, but this is to reach other parts of the world.
If you feel sad, lonely, depressed, even suicidal it does not mean you are a bad person, or crazy, or weak, or flawed, it only means that you have more pain than you can cope with right now. We're here to try and help people cope with that pain. To give them someone to talk to, to provide a light in the darkness. If you don't know who to talk to and dont know where turn for help; just ask. Everyone can get lost sometimes but we can give you the right directions.
Please join our mailing list for information on upcoming events and further information!
if you would like to talk, please pm one of the moderators and we'll write back.
The blogs will be updated with upcoming events & plans for the group.
Stay safe!

At both Bad Alice and The Cairn we write and promote awareness of suicide, self-harm, mental distress and it is issues and recovery plus the role of the carer.
As having written books we give talks and presentations and if we can help in your area please contact us. Bad Alice is our music strand and focusses on the same issues. Our websites are

the butterfly project
de
Wings
1 respuesta 54 semanas
The Butterfly Project has been created for self-harmers who feel they are ready to stop and need the motivation or support to do so. I found it on another support website and it was recommended to them by a members hypnotherapist who found this idea on an online blog and felt that it was a good idea that should be promoted as a distraction.
The idea is simple. The self-harmer simply draws a butterfly on their place(s) of self-harm and if the butterfly fades without them self-harming, it means it has lived and flown away, giving them a sense of achievement. Whereas if they do self-harm with the butterfly there; they will have to wash it off. If that does happen, they can start again by drawing a new one on or any design to be honest
A couple of people tried this and found out that pen washes off pretty quickly, so to make it last longer try starting with a caterpillar, when that washes off a cocoon, and then a butterfly!
Or for those of us who are just lazy and want to stick it on, try rub on tattoos, not just butterflies, but hearts, stars, tribal designs for the boys and more. There have also been a couple of people who write the names of their friends and family, so that when they feel the need to injure, they see the reminder that they are trying to stop not just for their loved ones, but for themselves. People also tried using song lyrics or quotes.
Anyway I just thought it was a simple and genius idea to help people in recovery

If they want to die, let them die. These stupid support groups don't help anyone, you know.
i have epilesy and it can get really bad some times, at one point i was depressed enough to consider killing myself . but a few months later i had the worst wake up call there is, when my 18 year old cuzin killed himself. i saw what it did to his family our whole family i wasn't willing to do a repeat.
he was a messed up kid and i miss him every day . everyone loved him . its heart breaking that his tragic fate is what woke me up. it haunts me every day . but it is a reminder that suiside is never the answer.

Great Work, Great Site!
I am working down south, particularily Meath is a major concern for suicide. I love your video too.
Keep up the good work,
Anthony
Such tpoics make me shiver sometimes... However, i'm happy that you people stay together and don't let each other down. "When pain exceeds resources for coping with pain", think of those who love you and who may choose suicide if you are gone. That has stopped many people. In reply to: "Suicide is not chosen; it happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain." by DATA Suicide Awareness Prevention
Ems you don't wana kill yourself, it doesn't solve anything all you will be leaving behind is more pain, people do love you remember you have family and friends, its them people that are the real victimsof suicide. Talk to your family about what your going through.
i wana kill myself what do i do?
Yea, just wana say that theres always people on this page U can talk to. Just message one of us.
If ya need to talk about anything we here
sometimes i always think suicide is da answer, i tryd doin it b4 but failed...
I'm Sorry for advertising, Do you think it's possible to look at this page & read it, It's only got a few members & we really need to make Happy day a big hit in order to help this place be happier & Help there be less violence. it would mean allot if you got people aware of this.
