Wow, there was some reaction to my post yesterday about real names. Firstly my appologies for those who don't like this change, we're trying to make Bebo better and there is always some sort of logic to our madness.

So what logic can there be to our change yesterday? Well, we have a long line of new features that we want to launch but they only work when people have both memorable and typeable names.

As a quick demo we've put an initial 'mini-feature' live on the Home page. There is now a 'Go to' box, start typing a friends name and it will auto-complete, hit return and you'll go straight to that profile.

Unfortunatley you will only see friends listed who have entered normal names, since if you can't type a name with a normal keyboard it can't auto-complete.

Some clarification is needed on what we mean by 'Real names', it's probably a bad choice of words. We're not making anyone enter their real name, it can be just your first name, or someone elses name if you feel so inclined. Your friends will find it a lot easier to contact you though if it's a name that they know you by, such as a nickname.

It's only been 502 days since my last blog post, and after all that time, I still have nothing more interesting to say than this.

Going to Disney Land this weekend, what childish fun! And no, the Bebo logo has nothing to do with Mickey Mouse, it's 3 intersecting circles showing connections between people that just happen to have a marginal resemblance to ears.
