- Since Yorkshire Cancer Research was set up in 1925, it has become the most successful regional medical research charity in the UK. We fund internationally recognised research into the cause and cure of cancer at universities and their associated teaching hospitals throughout Yorkshire.
YCR is not a regional division of a national charity - it is an independent charity, based and operating in Yorkshire only. We are still, however, at the very forefront of the international fight to find a cure for cancer.
The charity's objective is to promote research in Yorkshire into the cause and cure of cancer, which today accounts for one in four deaths in the UK.
From our office in Harrogate, Yorkshire Cancer Research aims to raise in excess of £5 million each year, funding research by scientists working in universities and their associated teaching hospitals throughout Yorkshire: Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York.

Join us on this special challenge as we ride the tribal trails and royal pathways through India's colourful “Land of the Kings” – Rajasthan. Our Indian Cycle Challenge will provide us with an ‘off-the-beaten-track’ cycling adventure, through some of the best hill and desert landscapes that Rajasthan has to offer. We’ll cover a total distance of 400km over 6 consecutive days in the saddle through this fascinating region of India. In addition to experiencing India at it’s best – by bike – we’ll also have opportunities to explore the amazing painted “havelis” (mansions) of Shekawati - a remote area where rich merchants once aimed to outdo each other by painting their homes in ever more exuberant styles. Time has largely stood still since this extravagant heyday, making this a fascinating area in which to hold this special cycling challenge.
From there we head further in to rural Rajasthan, an area of stunning desert landscapes, dotted with villages of vibrant colour - a complete contrast to the world-renowned sights of Delhi, Jaipur and the Taj Mahal; with which we end our Cycle Challenge!
Come and cycle “The Land of the Kings”… -

Join this fantastic trek to the Roof of Africa! Standing at an impressive 5,895m over the African plains, Mt Kilimanjaro is one of Africa’s best sights. On reaching the summit of Uruhu Peak, you will have just summated the World's highest free-standing mountain and also, bagged one of the World's seven highest summits. This challenging trek follows the much less trodden Lemosho Glades route and is said to be one of the most stunningly beautiful hikes in Africa.
Our Lemosho Trail Challenge consists of eight days on the mountain, which will maximise your chances of acclimatisation and also conquering this mighty peak. Following this particular trail has to be one the best ways to summit. Starting in the rainforest of the Lemosho Glades, to the west of the mountain, we then push up across the Shira Plateau making our way towards the Karanga Valley, and then up and up towards our goal – Uruhu Peak.
You will trek through near enough every eco-system known to man – this is a very exciting wilderness route which is being used to avoid overcrowding on the more trodden Machame Route. We’re sure this Challenge will leave you with an amazing sense of accomplishment – so, don your trekking boots and join us on this ultimate trek of a lifetime! -

Join us on this tropical Challenge of a lifetime as we explore one of the most stunning islands on the Globe – Borneo.
Taking place in the Sabah region of Borneo within Malaysia, this triathlon style Challenge is an amazing adventure taking us through lush rainforests, high mountain summits, fast flowing rivers and tropical jungles – home of one of Borneo’s most established residents - the Orang-utan.
The Challenge starts with a two day trek to summit the mighty Mt Kinabalu. Standing at 4,095m, is the highest mountain in South East Asia. From deep and lush tropical jungle to its granite summit, it is the focal point of the stunning Kinabalu National Park.
Following the success of our summit climb, we then proceed with a challenging 170km cycle ride, over 2 days, through the breathtaking Crocker Mountain Range, known as the ‘spine of Sabah’. This challenging scenic bike ride will take us through the undulating hills of the Crocker’s, past many ethnic villages with local children waving, and paddy fields famed for its orchids, Orang-utans and unusual plants.
We then finish this Ultimate Charity Challenge with a raft down the awesome Padas River- a white knuckle ride we’ll remember forever...
