  • Article In The Herald.

Ha. the first time I ever read the Herald I happen to come across this...

"The New Jolly Beggers were drafted in at the last minute to replace The Lemmings who had pulled out of Tarbert Music Festival at the weekend. When a folk fan asked what had happened to them, he was told "They took a heider aff a cliff"

    Genius!

  • An Ode to the Lemmings By Paul Ewing

    Paul Ewing
    An Ode to The Lemmings

    A wild drunken weekend,
    When I was introduced.
It was easy to see then,
    That I had been seduced.

The First Time was So Close,
    Then Morag and Romeo.
    The Night and Ghosts,
    Easy Chief, it’s Aye, No.

    Another Day of the party,
    The introductions were made.
But it was all about Me and Paddy
And the crazy game we played.

    Two days and two nights,
and a shit load of liquor
To show that this just might
    Be something that lasts forever.

My first gig, met the band.
    They play an awesome set.
Blown away! Give them a hand.
I’m all ready to leave, but yet

    Parties abound. Box and more!
    Then home with the Elite.
Meet the people I grow to adore.
Oh, and to sleep on a seat.

    Stew’s video idea is awesome.
    So visceral and visual. Perfect
Getting in your face on ‘em
Even said he’d let me direct. (Haha)

    Ben’s strumming in the corner
    Just chilling after pubbing
    Remember playing tall Dr.
    And all the random hugging?

    Dean’s in a group chatting,
    usually bout something crazy
    I’m on the floor, panting
tears of laughter making it hazy.

As gay as all this probably sounds
You must forgive a poets hand
Especially when he’ll always be around
    To support his favourite band

  • REVIEW of Barrowlands 2 : by The - MAG!!!

The Lemmings, are confident but not arrogant. They all appear to be experienced musicians in their own right, yet hail from a part of Scotland that is not well known for its more mainstream experiments in music. This ideology is slightly inconsistent in that Mid-Argyll provided the inspiration for one of the best selling singles of all time - Mull of Kintyre.

Their music is unmistakably Scottish and as a result it is unlike much of the other pap that circulates around the British music scene. Visually, the band have avoided looking like every other indie-rock band by avoiding long sweeping fringes and skinny jeans. A prescription that bands in Glasgow find almost impossible to accept and yet still expect to be taken seriously. Because of these small, but noticeable variances, The Lemmings are a refreshing break from what I have come to expect from Glasgow bands over the years.

For men their age, their musical influences are I assume, quite vast. There are hints of the old and new jostling for position and The Lemmings also cleverly combine elements from traditional Scottish music to create something that is listenable and insightful. On first listen, it was an engaging set and while the venue was by no means full, there was an excitement amongst the crowd who had gathered close to the stage and this added a much needed humanistic element to the show. Fans of The Coral, Radiohead or Muse would find a lot of joy in this band.

Oscar Wilde once wrote "If one plays good music, people don't listen and if one plays bad music people don't talk". Sometimes bands can find themselves in this aqward position whereby they need to take the bull by the horns, experiment that little bit more, drive their sound forward and take more musical risks. Both Tamikas Treehouse and The Lemmings need to (and probably will) take this next step. If they do and do it right, then these are two bands to watch closely in the coming months and years.

bugger, (thanks for such a prompt reply) really sorry about this guys since i messaged you the mannager and the organiser seem to both have changed their minds and only want one band a night :( and have decided after telling me that that weekend was free, to inform me that actually it has already been booked up. I'm a bit pissed at this mainly 'cause i don't like screwing people about but that seems to be the way it goes. sorry about that. However i do have a better proposition for you guys anyway. Would you be up for playing a charity gig on Lismore on Friday the 28th of August in aid of Amnesty International which will be going out on Radio Six? I am almost entirely in control of this gig and can deffinately say it WILL be happening and i'd love to have yous. For info check, www.bebo.com/amnestybash Thanks again for getting back to me promptly Cheers Ru. Spin-offs

Hey guys, loving the tunes. I'm wondering if you guys would like to play with us at O'Donnells in Oban on either the 30th of May or the 6th of June, (both are Saturday nights) you'd probably be paid £150 and be put up in the O'Donnells guest house right next door, probably two fourty minute sets if yous are up for that. Nothing for definate yet but let me know if you're up for it i'll get it sorted. Cheers Ru.
