- From introducing recordings to performing with vinyl to producing records, the Disc Jockey has been with us in various guises for over 100 years. During this perod the DJ has been hugely influential in how music has been written, produced and sold. The DJ's needs have led to the creation of new types of music,(Reggae,) and pushed other genresinto the public domain through the DJ's presence in Radio.(Rock 'N' Roll and Hip Hop.)
The DJ's unquenchable thirst to incorporate new technologies into music gave birth to Disco, House, Techno and Drum 'N' Bass. It is safe to say the DJ is here to stay and therefore time to ask WHATS THIS ALL ABOUT THEN???
Now's the time to find out. Our courses will introduce you to everything from Set Ups to Scratching, Beatmatching to Blending Beats, How To Listen and Love your music.Wether you want to spin for the fun of it, mobilise your Disco, or turn your hobby into your job, no dial will be left unturned as we bOUNCIN2 dJing!!

of DJ-ing. Young people appreciate honesty. "
Ross Mc Gill
Cross-Border Project Co-ordinator
Lifford-Cloneligh Resource Centre

“I thought it was very helpful, good craic and I learned a new skill.”
-DJ course participant, age 14, Tullyally

DISCO II DISCO this SAT....with DOMU (Radio 1 Xtra, Sonar Kollektiv, Tru Thoughts)
A Decade & Runnin.....bOUNCE 10 PRESENTS...
Classic Boogie To Lofty Disco...Glitter Balls & Electric Slides At The Ready...
SAT OCT 3RD
THE NEW PLAYHOUSE, ARTILLERY STREET, DERRY.
DOMU (TRU THOUGHTS, SONAR KOLLEKTIV, RADIO 1 XTRA)
SOULANDRA GOURLEY (IMPRINT, BELFAST – Soulful House.)
ANNonymous PRIDE (LIPSTICK, DERRY – Lofty Disco Classics.)
THE DISCO DOG (NEWCASTLE – Classic Boogie.)
KwaMe (bOUNCE, GHANA – Back The Bruk Up Disco.)
We’ve managed to catch him in his way back from another successful tour of Japan..bOUNCE welcomes DOMU (RADIO 1XTRA, TRU THOUGHTS, SONAR KOLLEKTIV) to these shores to SPIN & BOOGIE with us, THIS SATURDAY, The NEW Playhouse, Artillery St, Derry. Glitter Balls of support from Soulandra Gourley, ANNonymous PRIDE, THE DISCO DOG and KwaMe. Expect The Jacksons to MFSB, Tavares to Thelma Houston, Chika Wah to searing violins…re-edits & tape reels at the ready….ITS DISCO…
We’ve been big fans of Domu’s musical output for many a year. Dominic Stantons many pseudonyms confirm his reluctance to be pidgeon holed in one category. From Hip Hop to Brokenbeat, Techno to Drum & Bass and on his return to Derry, Boogie and Disco. Its all from the Soul..
Dominic Stantons back catalogue and biography requires a big cuppa tea and a few packs a biscuits before you finish reading, he’s done that much. If you don’t believe us copy and paste that in your tool bar!!! Not being rude, its what you do!! http://www.divshare.com/download/738... In brief, he’s just released a quite brilliant compilation of his “One Offs, Remixes & B Sides” and is working on the 3rd Domu LP, and the second Bakura and Umod LPs are well into production, all of which should all be completed this year. Oh, and he runs an MP3 based label Treble O and Djs on Radio1 Xtra in his ‘spare time!!’ (www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra)
Sandra Gourley aka Soulandra..a nickname that has rightly stuck. Anyone that joined us for Prehen 10, witnessed this girl spinning from the heart with her infectious Cosmic Boogie and Soulful Broken House. Not a tune out of place! She founded Imprint in Belfast and continues to spread a similar energy every time she spins out. Welcome back Girley!! x
ANNonymous PRIDE….turned many a head at this years Pride Festival, of which she has lifted the roof for the past two years. A connoisseur of classic Disco, straight for the dancefloor. She’ll mix up Lofty Boogie to Glitter ball classics. High heels & champagne at the ready…
The Disco Dog had to play at this with a name like that. Aka Tom Watkiss has bOUNCED with us on many occasions over our decade in existence. His ear for Soul & Disco is reflected in his production work. We’re working on unleashing these gems in the future but for now, we’re just pleased to get him spinnin for us again.
KwaMe will spin a few for the Disco crew as well..lining up K&D Boogie Woogie re edits to Vanessa Freemans Reel People newness..(we’ve got Vanessa Freeman with us for Halloween…STAY CLOSE FOR DETAILS ON THAT ONE..)
Sex In The City will have nothing on the Derry City this Saturday…turn up, find out….

Music for The Open Minded- bOUNCE, Dublin
Love Music Hate Racism
Launch
Music for The Open Minded
With Elbow Room, bOUNCE and Homespun DJs
A Night of Afrobeat, Latin, Dancehall, Jazz, Soul and Funk
Featuring Brother Luke, KwaME + Chuck.
Friday 17th April 2009
Le Cirk Dame Street Dublin
Doors 9.30pm FREE
Love Music Hate Racism is an organisation run by a group of people looking to celebrate cool diverse styles of music through gigs and club nights while at the same time promoting racial harmony. We are about using the positive energy of music to combat the scourge of racism and hate crime in Ireland, both North and South.
We live in a New Ireland where there is a growing multicultural society. The ethnic profile of many communities and workplaces is changing and diversifying. In 2006 approximately 10% of Irelands population of 4.2 million was made up of immigrants from all over the world; Eastern Europe. Africa, Latin America and with them they bring more culture, more music, more food and more languages. We can only benefit from this in the same way that other countries benefited from migrants from this country in years gone by.
Discrimination, racism, the intolerance of others is borne out of ignorance. Be it in the workplace, the school, or at home, and the key to a successful, fair and open society is a willingness to learn and communicate with others. Love Music Hate Racism is opposed to attacks on immigrants, migrant workers or asylum seekers in whatever forms those attacks come. We believe there is room for everybody here and we also believe that music is a form of communication, and just like the human race it is diverse and interesting, and it can be used to break down barriers.
There are many Love Music hate Racism voluntary groups set up all over the country, with people organising gigs and events all the time.
We are not tied to any one particular genre, and so to kick things off in Dublin we have drafted in three of the most clued up, red hot DJs from around the country, with a mixed bag of music in tow.
The music will swing from Afrobeat to Dancehall, from Latin to Jazz, and from Soul to Funk, the DJs will mix and match, fuse and connect the dots.
They are
Brother Luke – (Elbow Room)
KwaME (BOUNCE)
Chuck (Homespun)
All you got do to be a part of this positivity is turn up, and this very special launch night is absolutely FREE.
We just want you to party, and you will if these DJs have anything to do with it.
