Darwin has gone the way of the Dodo!
Darwin started as a fun experiment but unfortunately never moved much beyond that, partly because I was unable to invest enough time in it, and may be because it just wasn't quite right.
The plan was to keep it going as long as there was good support for it, but it seemed to wane as it grew. I still have a lot of new ideas for it to make it a lot better, but they rely on other things being added to Bebo first, so unlike the Dodo, it may make a comeback at a later date!
Thanks to everyone who supported it and sorry for the unceremonious demise of it.
We still love you!
Michael

Contestants Required!
|
We're getting to the end of our report for Bebo, and we just need a small bit of help. For this, we ask you, contestants.
If you an spare a few minutes for Darwin, and for Bebo, in exchange for an improved game and public acknowledgement, then please help us. In our report, we are highlighting some findings regarding Darwin and the Bebo platform for it, along with accessibility, ease of use, quality and public awareness.
We would request that we could have a number of representatives, as many a possible, but ideally one or two from the following locations:
- Ireland
- England
- Wales
- Scotland
- America (various locations please)
- New Zealand
- Canada
Your work, which is not very tough, would include asking some people in your nearest city some questions about Bebo and Darwin. It is not a long detailed survey (we're not interested in that), it's literally two brief questions. The most it would take in total is about 20 minutes, at most. Plus, if more people get involved from your territory, the faster you an get it done. You can get your friends involved too, and we'd appreciate that.
For those who are interested, please contact me regarding it, and I will forward you via email the relevant leaflets and material. We really ask that you help with this, as it would be of major benefit to everyone involved with Bebo.
Please email me privately, or drop me a comment, and I will sort you out with all the necessary material. I really appreciate this, and thank you for taking the time to read the blog.
Ends.

Voting Problems
|
Right, we get it, there are some problems with voting, but, erm, we don't know what to say.
Normally I'd have a smart arse answer right about now about Bebo, or I'd have gone down the road of making a sarcastic joke about my approach to the crisis, but today, for once, I've not got much to say.
Yes, at time of writing, many might not be aware of what major things have happened at Bebo HQ. Well, today, AOL Time Warner bought Bebo for $850 Million, which is about £417 Million/€546 Million. And sure, if you were making big deals like this, I doubt Darwin will resume working tonight.
Again, I don't know. I'm just guessing that staff won't be rushing back to their offices in Texas, San Fran or even in London to update our databases and shoot out emails. If you look at it logically, Darwin probably wasn't even considered when the week started, so this really isn't a big surprise.
Who knows, the team may do something extraordinary tonight for us in relation to Darwin, or they could just leave us until tomorrow night. I'm just not sure. If you've got some stroke of genius idea/brainwave, do share it.
I won't go into talking about the future of Darwin or the fixing of things right now, because we'll need to look at what may change or be done thanks to this takeover.
If you're interested in reading more about it, take a look at the press release http://www.bebo.com/Press.jsp?PressP...
Anyway, that's my bit of Bebo gossip, but for now, why not try this- it won't fix Darwin voting, but sure, it will give you a laugh... http://www.bebo.com/c/apps/add?AppId...
Ends.

Darwin is over |
by
Martyn
Lets face the truth.
Darwin is dead.
It was originally just a small pet project by Michael Birch. He doesn't own bebo anymore.
AOL don't care about Darwin. Heck, I'm guessing Michael Birch dioesn't even care anymore.
Darwin was bound to fail anyway since they introduced the pyramid system.
Game over

Joke |
by
Derek McHugh
This latest dereliction of Darwin (failure to recommence voting on Monday morning as normal) as caused Darwin to descend into a farce and render it inoperable and impractible. And... I'd rant more but my work break has ended.
Your opinions, folks?

Your thoughts on minors on Darwin... |
by
David O'Keeffe
As you've read in the blog, and seen in the poll, under eighteen's are not permitted on Darwin, and are removed by staff. It's a tough debate, and we want your views.
Do you think its a wise and good move by Bebo?
Are you an adult, over the age of eighteen, who are glad to see the changes?
Are you under-eighteen and irriated by the recent enforcement?
Did you get angry at all the minors who posted pointless content?
Are you an under-eighteen who feels discriminated?
Whatever your view is, please state it. Remember to post and reply maturely, without foul language, text or back slang, and without bashing and flaming. Minors, be aware what you say and make a good representation of yourself. Adults, remember that you will also be speaking to those under eighteen, so please choose your words wisely.
*** Very Important - Start your reply with your vote, as cast in the poll. So "Yes" or "No". There is no point being in this forum unless you've cast your vote. ***
