Highfield match
In perfect rugby conditions the Bandon Girls played highfield girls in an evenly matched game.
Things started well for Bandon when a perfectly executed H-Bomb lineout gave Rebecca a break in our own 22. Rebecca evaded tackles to reach the opposition 22 where a perfect offload to Shona gave us our first try of the day.
Unfortunately an injury to Catherine made us realise just what a vital part of the squad she plays and her absebce was really felt in the lineout and rucks.
Highfield upped the pace now and a period of pressure led to their first try which was converted by an excellent kick.
Hitchcock now stepped up to the lineout and did some very impressive firsttime lifting. Both teams showed very impressive skills all round the pitch with excellent offloads, tackles and kicks throughout the match.
Unfortunately some strong running from a number of Highfield girls gave them the advantage and a number of tries were run in before bandon found a responce in an incredible break in our own 22 from the unstoppable Shona Roche.
Final score 31-10 but a very impressive display from both sides and a match where many players really started to play rugby properly for the first time....
Finally couldnt finish without mentioning mags clearance throw forwards down the pitch....just hope we caught it on Video.0 Comments 231 weeks

Bandon Girls v Fermoy 17th November
Bandon RFC U18 girls team took on Fermoy on Saturday, 1st December 07 in, what was not just their first U18 South Munster league match, but actually their first match ever.
Understandingly, we expected nerves to be a factor (though it turned out the two coaches were the only ones showing theirs…). It had been decided prior to the day that due to the inexperience of our side a 10-a-side game would be played. The team made a good start but were outclassed by a side with just a lot more experience, who had been playing together for 12 months, that was fielded two Munster players and who had subs… Three tries down at half time yet Bandon refused to give up and were improving by the minute. Now with the wind in their backs, kicks carried and Bandon finally got into the opposition half. Line outs were going our way, rucking was improving all the time and whilst Fermoy did still find gaps to score, Bandon suddenly realised that Fermoy had weaknesses too and kept up the pressure - only to be rewarded by scoring a try themselves in the closing minute of the game. Well done girls – you did yourselves and your coaches proud!
Highlights of the match -
Ciara's try without a doubt...
Ms Jones's pitch invasion following above try..Compusure and dignity gone out the window..
O'Gara ball working perfectly..
First contested lineout ever working perfectly..
Murdering Fermoy in the rucks...

St. Marys Ladies RFc3/3/08Hey, sorry only seeing this now! The pitch is about a ten minute walk from Templeogue Village. Just walk towards Templeville Road, take a left, walk past the roundabout and its on your left hand side - cant miss it. If you're comin from Leopardstown you might be better off gettin a taxi if there's a gang of ye. But you could get the luas into town (Sanyford stop, shouldnt be too far from where you're staying) and a bus (15/15b/15c or 54a) to Templeogue. The 15s go from the side if the green opposite to the Luas stop, the 54a goes from Dame St, and stops right outside the pitch. ThHere should be a good crowd goin so hopefully you shouldnt have much difficulty finding the place

St. Marys Ladies RFc2/25/08Hi there, hear you need directions for the Wales game?! If you're coming by train, get the 91/92 bus from Hueston to Dame Street; opposite the Central Bank of Ireland, beside Londis, is the 54A bus stop. Take that to Templeville Road, it stops directly outside the rugby club. If you're driving, take the M50 Southbound from the Red Cow. Leave the M50 at Junction 11 then take the 1st exit onto Tallaght Road (signposted City Centre, Templeogue) at the roundabout. Take the 2nd exit onto Templelogue Road at the Spawell Roundabout. Continue onto Templeogue Road at turn left at the traffic lights on the junction with Templeville Road. Go straight through the next roundabout - the rugby club is 50 metres on your left. Hope that makes sense - see you at the match!
