In the field of electronic music, Gregor Tresher is by no means a debutant. For more than seven years the thirty-year old DJ and producer from Rhine-Main in Germany gathered merits modernizing the algorithms of electronic music. His "Still EP" in 2005 shot him into the Champions League of European Techno producers. In 2005 & 2006, releases like "Neon", "Full Range Madness" or "The Now People" on labels like Great Stuff, Datapunk and Cocoon earned Gregor plaudits from across the dance world, but 2007 was the year that Gregor firmly cemented his place within the elite of dance music. His first full length artists album, "A Thousand Nights", has gone on to become one of the biggest selling dance albums of recent years. Tracks like "Painkiller", "Anti" and "The Wombat" were all massive hits for Gregor in 2007 but the title track from his album proved to be his biggest hit to date.
The biggest track in electronic music in 2007, the genre breaking "A Thousand Nights" appeared on more compilations and tracklistings than you can shake a stick at! It has been hammered by nearly every top disc jockey worldwide and has gone on to reach number one in numerous dance charts across the globe (biggest selling techno track on Beatport in 2007), yet as a testament to its quality, it still sounds as fresh as the day it was released. Combining a mixture of influences and sounds, "A Thousand Nights" managed to appeal to all fans of electronic music, not just techno fans. Inclusion on Steve Angello's "Sizeism", Gabriel & Dresden's "Toolroom Knights" and Francois K's "Masterpiece" demonstrates the appreciation for the track across numerous genres.
Gregor Tresher is now considered by many to be one of the top techno DJs and producers around. With Sven Vath, Dubfire, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha and Joris Voorn among his biggest fans, Gregor's rise on the production front has coincided with his rapid rise on the DJing front. Guy J is a 22 year old hailing from Tel Aviv in Israel. Together with fellow countrymen such as Guy Gerber, Chaim and Shlomi Aber, Guy J has been instrumental in transforming Israel into one of the most exciting countries in the world of electronic dance music in recent years. DJing since the age of 15 and producing since he was 18, his rapid rise to the forefront of electronic music has been put down to a mature and polished sound that defies his young age.
Combining the warmth of progressive house with elements of tech house, techno and minimal, Guy J’s broad musical style saw him become an instant favourite of many of the world’s top DJs, non more so than the legendary John Digweed, who immeadiately signed Guy to his infamous Bedrock label. On top of the Bedrock releases, tracks on other massively respected label’s such as Tiga’s Turbo Recordings, the classic sounds of Renaissance, one of the world’s largest house labels in Azuli and Germany’s techno-monster Traum, have all seen Guy’s popularity soar. With some of his biggest fans including Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Satoshi Tomiie, Gregor Tresher amongst others, one would be forgiven for thinking that it has taken this Israeli years of fine-tuning to reach this level. But, as he’s live performances also prove, Guy J is a natural talent who is fulfilling his potential in front of a worldwide audience.
Despite numerous highly-acclaimed releases, stunning Ableton Live performances and also tracks appearing on John Digweed’s “Transitions Vol 3”, Hernan Cattaneo’s “Sequential 2” and Dave Seaman’s “Therapy Sessions 4” amongst others, Guy J is not one to rest on his laurels and 2008 is lined up to be his biggest year yet. With some fantastic releases due out on Bedrock, Turbo Records and Azuli to name but a few, 2008 is also the year when Guy will begin to take his live sound to a global audience with gigs scheduled throughout Asia, Australia and Europe over the coming months. Also over the last few weeks, John Digweed has emphasised his love for Guy's music and talent by making him a headlining act in the Bedrock tent at this summer's Global Gathering and has also included 2 of Guy's upcoming releases in his new "Transitions Vol 4" mix CD.
Guy J’s rich, mature sound is set to be a fixture in electronic dance music for years to come and GET:music are delighted to be bringing this extremely talented performer and producer to Ireland for the very first time. Don’t miss your chance to see him in action at Radio City on Friday 4th April.
Özgür Can was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1982 and grew up in a family where music was present at all times. Ever since then, Özgür's life has evolved around his love for beats, tones and grooves of all shapes and sizes.
Over the last 5 years, Özgür Can's music has been continuously receiving worldwide praise from all areas of the dance music scene. Since 2003, his unique talents have seen him transform overnight from a wonderkid hailed as the next big thing to one of dance music's most influential figures. Hailed by everyone from Sasha to Armin Van Buuren, James Holden to Tiesto, Hernan Cattaneo to Paul Van Dyk, Gabriel & Dresden to Adam Beyer, artists from every corner of electronic music have incorporated Özgür's genre-breaking sound.
His wide musical background is clearly reflected in his current sound; he has an open mind and is not afraid to cross boundaries and take new paths. His interest for sounds, tones and beats developed over years of listening to everything from progressive, techno, house, minimal, breaks, trance, pop, hip hop and alternative music. Infusing elements from many of his musical influences, Özgür's true and deep love for music has made him a versatile DJ and producer with a focus on progressive music with an energetic flow, while retaining elements of numerous other styles such as techno, house, minimal etc - a sound that is instantly recognisable yet extremely difficult to imitate and to categorise, with perhaps 'great electronic dance music' being the most suitable category!
With classic productions such as 'Irony', 'On A White Day', 'Changed', 'Calmec – Tangerine' etc etc etc, Özgür's signature sound has become a permanent fixture in the tracklists of the elite dance music artists all around the globe. His unique and diverse style has resulted in releases on labels like Harthouse, Pickadoll, Armada, Lost Language and Organised Nature to name but a few, and he now also co-runs his own record labels, Furry Music and Save Me Records. His explosive DJing sets around the globe over the last 5 years, together with his acclaimed productions, are highlights of Özgür's stunning career.
Surprisingly Özgür's very first visit to Ireland, GET:music will give the people of this country a chance to see one of dance music most well respected figures of the last 5 years. With his trademark sound and fine-tuned technical skills, Özgür Can will keep you rocking from start to finish, don't miss this rare chance to see him in action.
