We know Queer Young People are one part of the key to creating a successful 21st Century society, especially from within our schools. Queer youth visibility and acceptance helps everyone to meet the demands of negotiating all forms of difference, a necessary skill if, as a country, we are to perform and stand out on a global stage!

................Quote Of The Week....................

"My own belief is that there is hardly anyone whose sexual life, if it were broadcast, would not fill the world at large with surprise and horror." ~W. Somerset Maugham

    YouthWeek 23-31 May 2009
Youth Week is about creating a society that values young people and affirms their diversity. The week aims to highlight the amazing things young people (aged 12 - 24) do. In 2009 the focus is on relationships. So for next year, we would love to hear your ideas around planning events for queer youth in NZ!! Youth Week is a fantastic opportunity to promote visibility and inclusiveness in our communities!

So we encourage groups and individuals to start thinking about how they can contribute and organise their own events throughout NZ to support queer youth!!

Some ideas that we’ve come up so far are:

    - National and regional events
    - Queer youth groups, UniQ’s etc
    - Organising ‘same’themed dance parties, eg. ‘same time’/’same place’ etc
    - Rainbow badges/stickers

For more info and updates check out:

    World AIDS day 2009

People living with HIV in Aotearoa report experiencing discrimination in their workplace, and when they try to access medical care, The groups with the highest prevalence of HIV in New Zealand are gay and bisexual men, and people from African communities. People living with HIV in Aotearoa have reported experiencing stigma and discrimination in their workplaces and when they access health and support services, accommodation and insurance.

In Aotearoa the money raised on World AIDS Day supports the New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF). The proceeds benefit HIV prevention and the NZAF Wellness Fund which provides direct financial assistance for HIV positive people to access health services when alternative sources of assistance are not available.

This year we have events happening throughout the country:
