Eugoogally - this is what I read at my Grandad's funeral
Grandad, I’m going to miss you In my mind, you were always supposed to be here You protected me, and came to my rescue many a time We all have our “special moments” that we shared with you, The earliest one of mine was when you would bounce me on your knee & sing, The Grand Old Duke of York, all together now! The Grand Old Duke of York, He had ten thousand men, he marched them up to the top of the hill & he marched them down again, when they were up they were up, when they were down they were down, when they were only half way up, they were neither up nor down! The thing I remember most about that time was that your hair was still brown & you had a pipe, I remember the smell of that pipe because it belongs to one of the happiest memories of my childhood – thank you for giving me that. Your eldest great grandchild Brooke said to me last night “Grandad is in our hearts & is never to be forgotten” and she’s right, you ARE in our hearts, & you will NEVER be forgotten. Another thing that will never be forgotten is the first time you met Mark, my husband, & got him rip roaring drunk on Harrington’s Ale! And I’m sure none of us can forget the medicinal purposes of whiskey – I just wonder if it’s all whiskey, or just the stuff Granddad gives you. I know you were proud of all of us, but did you know how proud I am to have you as my Grandad? Just looking around today, & seeing the family legacy you & Nana created, it gives me pride to be a part of that. I found a poem I’d like to share: Our Father kept a garden. A garden of the heart; He planted all the good things, That gave our lives their start. He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream: Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self-esteem. And when the winds and rain came, He protected us enough; But not too much because he knew We would stand up strong and tough. His constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong; Markers for our pathway that will last a lifetime long. We are our Fathers garden, We are his legacy. Thank you Dad we love you.

FREE THE WEST MEMPHIS THREE
Ok, it's not often that I involve myself in a cause but honestly, after following this case for a while now, I am fully jumping on this band wagon. As you may have noticed, Amber & I started a bebo band for The West Memphis Three because, quite frankly, we are disgusted by the serious miscarriage of justice in this controversial case - & also, we fire each other up about it so much that we thought we'd throw our tiny pebble into the lake in the hopes that it may create some ripples of support for three innocent men wrongly imprisoned for heinous crimes, we feel, they didn't commit. The best place to start, I guess, is to promote an awareness of the documentaries 'Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills' and 'Paradise Lost 2: Revelations', as well as the website that has been set up by individuals who also strongly believe in the innocence of Damien, Jason & Jessie: www.wm3.org It all starts back in 1993 when 3 eight year old boys were found brutally murdered in Arkansas, America. The cops had no idea who did it & were inexperienced in dealing with a crime of this magnitude, the public were freaking out. Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin & Jessie Misskelley were considered 'different', they were teenagers who listened to Metallica & wore black. They lived in, what I view as, redneck America - a dangerous place for anyone against 'the norm'. There was no evidence, murder weapon, motive or any type of connection between these teens and the victims but because the cops looked bad coz they hadn't done their jobs & caught the killer, they saw these teens as the perfect scapegoats for this crime...that'd get the public off their backs! So 14 years ago, after messy trials, these teens were thrown in jail for life, one of them even facing the death penalty (he's still on death row & time is running out for him). There's loads of support for the boys, but still, all appeals have been denied & they still sit in jail while the killer goes uncaught. Anyway, watch the docos, read the info on the site & draw your own conclusions (coz I realize this blog lies heavily on one side).
