That’s not strictly true. They’re not really a band.
But you can keep the bit about “brilliant”.
Archangel is the brainchild of Nick Webber, a young man from west London with a strong will and a warped imagination who spent a year and a half going quietly mad in the wilds of Wiltshire as he recorded his masterpiece aka the soundtrack of his life. The album in question and the answer to your prayers, How To Lose Your Best Friend, comprises 11 magnificently overwrought and dramatically fashioned songs that explore the lexicon of love with an epic sweep and neon glow that will remind you of all your favourite 70s and 80s groups while sounding utterly contemporary. Archangel – whose name comes from a scene in the film Apocalypse Now! – are where ABC meet Arcade Fire."
Archangel says:
"Debut album "How To Lose Your Best Friend" coming soon!!" (15 hours ago) me too!

This really has been a killer week for Archangel.. We recorded a live session at the studio of half the album and videoed it on those little cameras on laptops.. We chopped it all together, gave it a mix (no edits mind 'cos those boys are as tight as a gnat's whatsit), shoved it up here and elsewhere.. and low and behold in a matter of hours those lovely people at youtube put it as their favourite single and knocked Portishead off the top spot..
If someone had told me when I used to sit up late at night as a nipper, (miserably listening to Dummy wondering why I didn't have a girlfriend- normal stuff) that such a thing as writing music that could have an audience, I would have fallen off my chair and rolled around on the floor laughing and maybe even considered a career in music.. Not only that but the enourmadome trade rag Music Week has featured the video on the front of their homepage too... All in 24 hours.
I can't help but think that if you believe in something enough and spend absolutely no money, (mainly because you haven't got any), have a day with the boys in the band at the studio recording something and videoing it, shoving it online and keeping those gnarly old fingers crossed that something may just happen.. well...er..something might just happen.
And here it is.. what timing.. We are doing our biggest show yet at the gorgeous Soho Revue Bar in good ol' London town's West End supporting the even more gorgeous Shortwave Set on Tuesday (15th April). Please come down but book in advance as we are nearly sold out. On stage at 7.45. After that, who knows, but long live the killer week.. xxN
