A new page for AMP, a music project located in the North-East of Scotland.

With meetings every Monday at the Lady Cathcart School, AMP provides an excellent chance for local bands to practice, and promote themselves within the area.

It provides young people with the opportunity to take part in the organisation of local gigs, learn management skills, and meet other teenagers with similar interests.


Every MONDAY - 6 PM to 9 PM (bands + youth drop-in)


Where else can you learn...

How to play guitar, drums and bass?
How to write songs?
Committee skills?
Financial planning skills?
How to write funding applications?
Stage management skills?
Directorial and production skills?
Sound engineering?
Lighting engineering?
Sound recording?
Photography and Photoshop design?

Monday 6th October!!
IMPORTANT NOTICE!!

Now that AMP has been back for a month or so since the Summer School has came to a close it's time to look at what the group does next. We've eased ourselves back in... and there has been some music happening, but not very much.

We have a WHOLE STACK of money that needs spending ASAP, we need to plan what the group is going to do up to the end of 2008, and what we intend to start doing at the start of 2009. I was keen to have an evaluation of 2008 at the end of the year, but AMP has slowed down to almost a grinding hault... so Fiona and I thought it would be sensible to start planning now.

GET YOUR THINKING CAPS ON!!

1. We've got about £1500 to spend on new gear. We've got our list of things to buy, and we can keep plugging away at the cool toys we want. It's just a case of prioritising and seeing if anything has changed since we made up the list back in April / May time.

2. We need to start thinking about events. Do we want more gigs? Do we want to do more recording? Do we want to host another summer school? Do we want to do collaborative projects? Do we want to continue shaping the way the Moray Youth Music Forum develops. Does AMP want to get involved in supporting develop a youth forum in Buckie - a place where young people come to influence a positive change to the community for young people!!

3. Does AMP want to set up some long term goals? Do we need to recruit more people?! Do we want to organise trips to visit other youth music projects across Scotland?! Do we want to organise trips to events and gigs? Do we want to develop a website where we can sell our music online?! Obviously there are loads of things that DIDN'T happen in the AMP Summer School 2008, so it's time to consider how we make our wish list and dreams come true on a Monday night!

4. Where do YOU fit in? What role do you want to take on? AMP isn't just a talking shop. It's all about making things happen!! It's all about developing your skills!

MONDAY 6th OCTOBER IS THE DATE!!

Stand up and be counted... because AMP needs to continue to make it's mark on Buckie. SO BE THERE!

AMP... 2008 / 2009!!
AMP goes back to its usual Monday night slot from Monday 1st September 2008. 6 PM to 9 PM. Chances are we'll be getting a visit from some HMIe inspectors, so we'll talk about that a little bit as we're bound to have a schedule for meeting some of them by that time! :)

hey there folks
can i get a list of amp related bands that may be interested in volunteering to play a day set of songs on stage in keith on the 14th of June 2009. it is a sunday.

. im looking for bands to do sets or 3-5 songs on stage, it wont be like a proper gig , youl be playing in a hall where there will be teas and biscuits being served. so your audiance will be a wide range of folk.
