Putting the 'm' back in AMP...
AMP was born in early 2007 from a group originally called Total Jam... no they weren't a spin off of Baxters, who oddly enough are just down the road and create the finest of preserves...
AMP is a youth music project, and are currently in the process of writing and recording their fourth album which is very exciting for all parties concerned!!
The group is supported by Moray Council staff, volunteers and on occasions paid tutors that come in and share their experiences, wealth of knowledge and skills in making that perfect song.
Across the summer holiday period AMP is operating a Summer School (AMPSS or ASS) for young people from in and around the area. You don't have to be in a band to be a part of AMP... you don't even have to be able to play an instrument... all you need is your enthusiasm!
You can try out new things like writing music, how to plan events, stage management, recording music, digital lighting?

When AMP goes back...
There are some changes to how AMP will be running after the summer holidays...
1. AMP returns on Monday 7th September, 6 PM.
2. Those coming to AMP must be actively taking part in making music. Groupies, hangers on, and people who come to do nothing else than sit around will not be made welcome and will be asked to leave.
3. The AMP schedule will run slightly differently...
Term 1
Monday 7th September - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 14th September - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 21st September - 6 PM to 9 PM
Saturday 26th September - 2 PM to 5 PM
Term 2
Monday 28th September - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 5th October - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 12th October - 6 PM to 9 PM
Saturday 17th October - 2 PM to 5 PM
Term 3
Monday 19th October - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 26th October - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 2nd November - 6 PM to 9 PM
Saturday 7th November - 2 PM to 5 PM
Term 4
Monday 9th November - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 16th November - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 23rd November - 6 PM to 9 PM
Saturday 28th November - 2 PM to 5 PM
Term 5
Monday 30th November - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 7th December - 6 PM to 9 PM
Monday 14th December - 6 PM to 9 PM
Saturday 19th December - 2 PM to 5 PM
4. The usual cost of £2 per session applies.
5. Anyone that has missed payments in the 2008/2009 session will be asked to pay up.

AMP Summer School - WEEK 4
The past few weeks have been crazier, but none crazier than week 4. The CD has finally been put to bed, the Northern Scot have came along to take the final photo for this Friday's edition, the stage has been set at Lady Cathcart and full rehearsals have been taking place all week. Back to the grind on Monday.

Behind the work scenes continues to get the new AMP website up and running within the next two weeks... a new look Bebo skin reflects what's coming in the website.

www.ampbck.com was born, and the Bebo page was stripped back to it's bare bones in anticipation of the old moderators being asked to give up their duties. New AMP is coming, and it's taking over the air waves!!

AMP starts off at 10 AM again. Everyone piles out into the car park to help get the PA system into the building so that everyone can practice through some big speakers. Mics, drums, guitars and various other instruments get hooked up to the desk and turned up! By 4 PM the sixth new song is partly arranged, but the bulk of the work is done. The Moray Firth Radio interview is being played all this week. Tish will be speaking to STV, and the BBC has already been in contact to come down and do a piece. Recording songs starts on Monday 20th.

Day 2 of AMP Summer School and the music making starts straight away. Sam and Rowan make a good impression and share their new ideas with the house band before quickly arranging a new song before lunch time. In the afternoon AMP has a planning meeting, setting out their plans for the next 5 weeks. The gig is rescheduled for Wednesday 12th July at Lady Cathcart Community Centre. A photographer from the Northern Scot dropped by and took a photo for this Fridays edition.

AMP Summer School starts. AMP is re-inventing itself and approaching this years summer school more like a business than just putting on gigs for the hell of it. So here's the deal peeps...
I'm unwell at the moment, and today is an in-service day anyway... so AMP is not on tonight. I repeat! AMP is not on! Tomorrow however, AMP is on. I won't be there, but Fiona and Tish will be (should be!!) from 2 PM > 4 PM-ish.
I know I promised to e-mail out your set list and things that need worked on, but I've been off since Wednesday too unwell to do anything except be ill, in my bed, feeling sorry for myself, miserable, and cold.
I'll see you next week!

Aye, if anybody wants a CD I'll have them at the Buckie High School at lunch time first day back! I knew they were going to come the day after the gig, coz the postie at the office in Banff told me so. Meh.
See the CDs have finally came in, the set list theingy looks really cool, wondered why u made us draw on a bit of paper lol, have the picks came as well, trust them to come the day after the gig anyways lolz
They look cool. And... smell weird. It's the plastic lacquer coating they've put on the actual disc I think.

Well well well... guess what arrived at 7.20 AM... to a bang bang bang at the door whilst I was trying to sleep off Wednesday night!!
Everyone did an amazing job tonight... if you didn't notice there were so many people in the hall there were heaps of people standing up the back that couldn't get seats!!

The CD's are currently somewhere between Aberdeen and Banff as from 5.30 this morning and I've been giving Parcel Force and Royal Mail grief on the phone to find out when it is I'm getting them!!
The CD's are currently in Conventry as of 9.30 PM tonight... talk about cutting it fine... AARGH!!

Am sure it is dress rehearsal tomorrow morning. Sort out chairs n stuff between 10 and 11, then 11 to 1 to rehearse the full show. 1 to 2 for lunch. 2 to 3.30 for publicity. 3.30 to 4 for a debrief.
Todays rehearsal was pretty good, is it a dress rehearsel the morn?
