The Association for International Cancer Research funds cutting edge research into the causes of cancer. In the past 27 years, we have supported a large variety of projects in all corners of the world. We currently have more than 215 projects underway.

Our Scientific Advisory Committee sits twice a year to evaluate project proposals from some of the world's top scientists. After intense scrutiny we then award grants to those projects that meet our strict criteria. This ensures that AICR funds only research of the highest quality. In 2007 we began funding over 80 new projects worldwide. Our aim in 2008 is to increase this number.

If you are able to assist us in supporting cancer research projects by making a donation, however large or small, please donate here: http://www.aicr.org.uk/donate.aspx

  • July Competition is now underway!

Our July competition is offering the perfect prize for your summer holidays! A Fuji J10 Digital Camera. This little camera comes in black and offers 8 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and a 2.5" LCD Screen.

This is what Fuji had to say about the camera:

"At Fujifilm, we believe that affordability should never mean a compromise on quality, and the new FinePix J10 compact digital camera is no exception. The FinePix J10 boasts 8 megapixels, Fujinon 3x optical zoom and ISO 1600 light sensitivity as well as QVGA movie recording capability. It's also incredibly easy to use, with an intuitive icon-based Graphical User Interface (GUI), designed to take the guess work out of selecting camera settings. The FinePix J10 is perfect for families who want a reliable, take-anywhere camera and is suitable for kids and parents alike."

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning this months prize then just answer the simple question on our website: http://www.aicr.org.uk/Competition.aspx

Only one entry per person and multiple entries will be disqualified. The competition closes at Noon BST on Friday 31st July 2009 and the winner will be notified within 14 days.

    Good Luck!! :)

  • VIP Visitor to AICR Office

AICR is honoured to have The Earl of St Andrews as Patron of the charity.

On Tuesday 23rd June 2009, Lord St Andrews, visited the AICR office to discuss the work we are carrying out. During his visit Lord St Andrews spent time with all of the staff finding out about our fundraising activities and the projects we have underway.

Lord St Andrews was accompanied on the visit by his cousin James Ogilvy who is a long serving board member of AICR. We were delighted that the Earl took time out from his busy schedule to visit us.

    Hello Stickytoria,

I couldn't post this on your page as you are private. Sorry to hear about your mum being diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope that her treatment goes well and that she gets all the support needed to deal with her diagnosis. We really appreciate the support that you have given us, without people like you our scientists would not be able to carry out the vital work that they do.

    Take care,

    Vickie

My friend and I (Lorna who is also a friend of yours here) are doing the race for life this year, it will be our 3rd year doing it. I know how much analysers and tests etc cost so I know that the money raised will go to an extreamly needy and worth while cause.

If you need any help with any fund raising events that are around the Dundee area, I'll only be too happy to help.
