- Councillor Ron Clark, do YOU think you are following public opinion!!
- Me, Myself, and I
- This Bebo Site Is for People who think the the aberdeen licensing boards decision to impose a 12.30am curfew (after 12.30 am nightclubs in aberdeen will not be allowed to let you in) which is due to start in september 2009, is possibly the most ridiculous idea you have ever heard.
Penalising the 99% of us who want a great night out due to the 1% of idiots out to start trouble.
Saying its not ok to go out for a drink after 12.30 but its ok to drink and gamble by makling casinos exempt from the curfew.
We are against a group who never go out and know nothing about Aberdeen nightlife, making decision's which affect us 18 and over who work our asses off all week so we can party all week end.
I hope you all post comments with your thoughts on this, and tell the people who want to introduce this that they are WRONG.

- yes, this will solve the problems associated with late night drinking
- maybe, but i will have short term teething problems
- possibly, but i think there would be some better solutions
- no, its is an ill thought out poor idea made by idiots
- never, it is peanalising 99% of us for no reason

drug testing
http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Art...
hi guys check link above regarding drug testing in aberdeen city nightclubs.
mike rumbles obviously thinks this is infringing on you guys civil rights, do you agree or disagree??
i would love to get mike rumbles comments on the curfew and wether this also impinges on peoples civil rights as well.
also
there has been no movement in the curfew stand off, no meeting has been put in place and dialogue has taken place, to my knowledge.
I have looked into applying for a judicail review of the curfew legislation and i think i have a pretty good case, just need to find a lawyer who will do it for free. any suggestions???0 Comments 241 days

experiences for australia, google melbourne lockout for background
TWO significant government inquiries in australia have concluded that a curfew from licensed premises is not appropriate to controlling drinking and violence.
Licensees and the public in australia agree that curfews are ineffective in a city environment.
They may work in regional towns such as elgin or inverness, where there are one or two clubs, but won't work where there are over 30 venues affected, as will happen in aberdeen.
Licensees and club owners seek a collaborative approach involving police, councils and the public, which does not hinge on a punitive, intrusive attitude towards the venues.
This emphasises education, particularly targeting youth, on socialising in a responsible, enjoyable and safe way.
There must also be proper structures to support Aberdeens reputable entertainment culture. This includes adequate policing on city streets (venues are already well controlled inside) and late-night transport, as opposed to curtailing public freedom.
Venues have sophisticated measures to prevent trouble -- surveillance cameras, trained crowd controllers and certification for responsible serving of alcohol.
Aberdeen council should put revenue from licensing fees directly back into increased policing and public education.
Finally, when public order offenders are apprehended, there should be a zero tolerance policy.0 Comments 283 days

aberdeen police tackling the problems head on!!!
I have been on holiday sorry for lack of updates.
Saw this article in the Press and Journal, i think that Aberdeen police are really getting to grips with late night issues in Aberdeen and operation Oak mentioned in this article will really help.
http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Art...
Cammy is an excellent officer who i have worked with in the past and he is tip top, i just wish someone at the police would stand up and say that this curfew is a crazy idea (most of then i believe think this but will not go public) that will cancel out the good work that is being done (operation oak and safer Aberdeen) by making the situation a lot worse.
Still no news of a meeting between in members of the licensing board and local licensees and club owners to discuss the curfew situation and there has been no change in eithers position.
So as we currently stand the curfew will become active on the 1st September next year. Unless things change!!!!0 Comments 296 days

No to the curfew!
Freedom to party when you like.
The idea is totally bonkers!!
its gona cause so much more havoc and problems than prevent them.
only takes a bit of common sense to realise that...
but look at the state this city is in already...
Just hope somone gets through to ''the powers that be''
and make them realise this would be a terrible decision!!
got 1 in elgin, its shit cant go out for a smoke after 12.30. 2 and a half hours is a long time when ur drinkin
If this is such a good idea then why have other cities across the UK abandoned their curfews??
george that is the dumbest thing i have every heard that if you close certain bars the trouble makers will not go out, i've seen worse trouble in some of aberdeen so called top class bar/clubs
This is the most stupid idea ever what do they think they are going to achieve, its been this way for years and just because they say so dnt mean people are going to accept it. silly silly xxx
trouble stems from a small number of bars and clubs (espionage, liquid etc) just close down the places that run the cheap drinks promotions and the trouble makers will just stay at home drinking cheap cider and vomit in their own sinks instead of street corners, bus stops and plant pots.
