Calcutta Poem

I dreamed last night of a different place,
With tears of sadness upon each face.
I closed my eyes and began to see,
A little girl like you or me.
Unwanted, unloved, lonely and sad,
No food, no shelter, no mom, no dad.

I dreamed of this girl lying on the ground,
Living in this world, but nowhere to be found.
Nothing to acknowledge this girl was alive,
And no one to acknowledge its their fault, she wont survive.

I dreamed of this girl wanting to be,
to be cherished,to be safe, and to be set free.
Free from torture, free from pain,
Free from living in an open drain.

I dreamed of this girl wishing someday,
She'd be a child that could laugh and play.
I dreamed that her worries were of dolls and toys,
And not the hunger of innocent girls and boys.

In my dream I lay and thought,
Of the battle for life that little girl fought.

Obviously they presumed that everbody who'd apply would be complete musical geniuses. And then I turned up.

I don't know why they put it on. And the band have gone and advertised it on their website, listing the impossible piece as one of the ones we're doing. And I haven't been practising it at all so I'm completey screwed - only four days toattempt to get it sounding somewhat more than random noises and piercing squawks, as the course starts on Monday - woohoo!!

Concert's on Sunday the twenty-fourth in the National Concert Hall. Come along and listen, if you're free! Don't know what time it's on at - but tickets are 15 euro and 10 for concessions! (No, not advertising at all here... Hehe...)

Doesn't matter about how long it took you to reply - my computer's on the blink, so I haven't been on in ages. All's good!

Yeah, I had the audition in late April, I think it was - but that was just to get in. They'll decide who plays which parts when we're there after seeing how we get on with the pieces. I've had an emergency lesson, so I can actually play some of the pieces now. I learnt that the impossible piece will probably be taken off the program, because we could spend all the week of the course just doing that one piece and we still wouldn't have it ready for the concert - yay! But the first thing my teacher asked was, "Where's the rest of the music?" so we'll be getting more. Although I did realise that you can't really have a fifty-minute-long concert in the concert hall; tad on the short side.

Anyhoo, glad that you had a gook time in Galway. And also glad that the weather's still on the wetter side of it all!!!! XxXxX

My dad was telling me how amazing canadian Brass were, so I listened to one of their CDs and quickly became obsessed. following a brainwave, I typed their name into Youtube and found the video. Taadaa!

I want free ice cream too... Maybe it's not warm enough - no, it's never too cold for ice cream (except when you're skiing, or, you know, in the North or South Pole, but whatever). And yes, we should give it out as part of the "Céad míle fáilte" thing. But only to people that we deem worthy! Haha!!!

Nobody told me how many pieces there were; I think I just made up the whole 3 hing randomly. We have to play the whole lot, and most have a first and second euphonium part in them. Of course, they haven't told me if I'm a first or a second, so I have to know all of it! AAAAAGGH!!! (Excuse the above scream of frustration.)

Ok, it was a little cooler at night in Spain. But not really. And not nearly as bad as your experience!!! XxXxX
