The wave of the future is here and that wave is not slowing down. School is now back in session and the newspaper in education programs are scattered throughout the globe. There are so many benefits to these programs one doesn’t really know where to begin. More than 700 newspapers worldwide have a successful Newspaper in Education (NIE) program. Publishers, teachers and students find the whole concept of NIE rewarding, exciting and fun.

What exactly is Newspapers in Education? It is a conjoined effort between the newspapers, local schools and local businesses and organizations. By using newspapers in the classroom it helps keep the students informed about the daily issues that surround them. It informs them and motivates them as they learn. A lot of newspapers have been providing classrooms with free copies for years. It is not unusual to see them at all levels of education, even at the elementary level.
