We are now into our 8th year of intense Wadfesting and the event feels very different to the first one where we only had around 70 Discworld fans sat around Loz's campfire as the surrounding forests had a much needed thinning out and the Haggi escaped for the fist time irreparably changing the flora and fauna of the Derbyshire Dales!

So as Wadfest grows in size and shape, we as a comittee have decided to incorporate a Slogo into all our dealings.
A slogo is a device used in advertising that is a combination of a Logo and a Slogan, a simple uncomplicated device that immediately identifies the product it is advertising without mentioning the product itself.

Classic slogo's include the Nike tick and the McDonalds golden M. Also simple sentences like "Just Do It." are now easily Identified with a certain product. A successful Slogo can last many years longer that a baseline advertising campaign.

Now as we know what a talented lot you all are we decided to make it into a competition, with the winning entry unveiled at this years Wadfest. The best design will be voted on by the committee in the last meeting before Wadfest so all entries must be in by mid July. The winning entry will be used on all tickets, advertising and correspondence for at least the following years event, (However we are hoping more long term than that!) Also we will be rummaging around the Wadfest vaults for something nice for the winner to take home with them by way of a thank you and prize!

Please do not post your entries on this thread, otherwise you may tip your competitors what they are up against.

As part of the Saturday night entertainment, and to make it a proper music with rocks in event we will be holding a Turtles in their eyes competition.
This will be a chance for Wadfestians to showcase their musical talents to a live audience and a panel of judges who will decide the overall winner of the night.
Entries can be parodying roundworld musical acts, Discworld music with rocks in bands or have their own original music act.
There will be a prize for the act considered to be the most entertaining!

Glastonbury for anoraks

This year we are basing the weekend on the Theme of "Music With Rocks In", so lots of air guitars, and rock outfits ect. will be being worn.

I am hoping that there will be lots of you dressing up this year, whether just on the Rock theme, or characters from the books, it's entirely up to you. Don't feel that you have to dress up: the idea of Wadfest is as always for you to enjoy yourselves.

We have plenty of events organised for all of you this year, regardless of age, so whether you are six or sixty I am sure you will find something that you'll enjoy.

Highlight of the weekend will be the Concert and Light Box Parade on Saturday night, and it is hoped that you will all dress for the occasion.

There will be the usual amenities over the weekend, including the Burger Wagon for those who don't want to do the cooking.

Once again this year we have tried to keep the cost down, so everybody can afford to attend.
