Hi everyone,
I'm Madeline, the Vai-Ola Group facilitator for this term. A wee bit about myself? I'm 18. First year Praxis student (
http://www.praxis.org.nz/ ) I'm in a wheelchair but don't diss, I'm fiercely independent. I love youth and helping people put their lives back on track, though I'm not yet fully trained at it. I've been a christian for as long as I can remember and I'm still on fire for God.
What does it mean to me to be a group facilitator? I do exactly that, facilitate. I dish out tasks for myself and the team to do and make sure everyone is where they are mean to be doing the right thing. Don't get me wrong though I'm not a boss. I am just there to make sure things don't turn to custard. The real "leadership" of the group is a team effort and we all have our say to how the team is run.
Our motto is "as we reach out to others, we reach up to GOD." This is how we try to live our lives and we are always supportive of each other in our journey with that.
I'm particularly excited about this term as it is our first together as a group and already we have started working together really well. Recently we went on a Nation wide retreat. This was an amazing opportunity to meet everyone from around the country and start working together as the team known as Vai Ola.
We had many team challenges, some of which we have posted photos of. One challenge we unfortunately have no photos of was the team breakfast. We got together, just the four of us and made breakfast for the entire camp. Over 65 people! That was a great challenge and a great learning opportunity. I'm sure there will be plenty more to come for us this year.
Keep coming back to the blog as we will update it regularly.
