Me, Myself, and I
Shania Twain has a "broken heart" after splitting from her husband, music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, after 14 years of marriage, she told fans in a message posted on her Web site on Thursday.

"As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life," the country singer writes. "I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life."

Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, who have a 6-year-old son, announced their separation last month. Sources told People magazine that Lange's relationship with another women, Twain's close friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud, 37, was the reason behind the split. Both Lange and Thiébaud have denied an affair.

Towns up and down the Mississippi River were feeling confident the worst was behind them Friday, as government weather forecasters scaled back their projected river crests, suggesting water levels would fall well below records set in 1993.

Communities such as Canton in extreme northeast Missouri expected a 25.2-foot crest Friday night, nearly 3 feet lower than the 1993 record.

"We are smiling about that, " emergency management director Jeff McReynolds said. "We have zero water, and it's our intent to stay that way. The new crest prediction makes us feel a whole lot better.

"But we are not letting our guard down. Significant rain in Iowa could hurt us again. We'll be on a yo-yo for the next few weeks. We're still in a danger zone."

The towns aren't in the clear. In many communities, water was still rising and crests weren't expected until the weekend or early next week.

And some were still under water.

A baby girl born in Mumbai, India, on Monday was diagnosed stillborn but astonished her family by gurgling as they took her to the cemetery the next day, BBC News reported.

Hospital authorities ordered an inquiry to determine if the medical staff acted negligently in its diagnosis.

The baby girl was delivered during a complicated labor at seven months gestation, the report said.

The child's 30-year-old mother suffered life-threatening convulsions and high blood pressure over the weekend and was prescribed "powerful medicines" for the conditions. She later delivered the baby, who was "limp" at birth, prompting hospital staff to declare her stillborn.

The baby’s condition is believed to have resulted from the medications taken by the mother and she likely awoke once the medicine wore off, Suleiman Merchant, acting dean of Sion Hospital, where the child was delivered, told BBC.

BOSTON — Things are getting more heated in the American League East.

The first-place Boston Red Sox are fighting the Tampa Bay Rays — and each other.

Manny Ramirez homered, drove in five runs and got into a shouting match with a teammate as Boston beat Tampa Bay 7-1 Thursday night in a game that included a bench-clearing brawl between the clubs.

Jason Giambi and the Yankees also showed some fight as he hit a two-out, two-run pinch-hit homer in the bottom of the ninth as New York rallied from a five-run deficit for a 9-8 victory over Toronto.

In Boston, TV cameras showed Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis being separated after exchanging words in the dugout at the end of the fourth inning. Ramirez pointed at Youkilis before being escorted down the runway toward the clubhouse by trainer Paul Lessard and a few players.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona felt emotions were still running hot after the earlier brawl.

Christie Brinkley Fights Back

Stunning mother of three and famed supermodel Christie Brinkley is not happy about the tack her estranged husband Peter Cook is taking in the press over their divorce.

On Thursday, reports started appearing on various syndicated TV shows that Brinkley wanted the divorce trial — set for July 2 — to be public and that Cook was trying to intervene for the sake of their two young children.

Sources close to Brinkley, however, tell me this is all hogwash, and I believe them. As it’s been pointed out, there is no logic in this latest move by Cook. These friends say that all the legal moves going on are about Cook trying to protect himself from terrible publicity once a trial is under way.

"For one thing, all cases are public already, " this source said. "So what is Peter talking about? In fact, Peter is trying to get the d

Clint Eastwood says Spike Lee should "shut his face" about the lack of African-Americans in "Flags of Our Fathers."

"Has he ever studied the history?" Eastwood asked the U.K.'s Guardian in an interview published on Friday.

While promoting his own war movie, "Miracle at St. Anna," about the all-black 92nd Buffalo Division, which fought the Germans in Italy during World War II, Lee said Eastwood's Iwo Jima movie "Flags of Our Fathers" lacked a single African-American.

"There were many African-Americans who survived that war and who were upset at Clint for not having one [in 'Flags' or 'Letters From Iwo Jima']. That was his version: The negro soldier did not exist. I have a different version," Lee said recently at the Cannes film festival in France.

In response, Eastwood told the Guardian: "A guy like him should shut his face."

"He was complaining when I did 'Bird' [the 1988 biopic of Charlie Parker]. Why would a white guy be doing that? I was the only guy who made it, that's why. He could have gone ahead and made it. Instead he was making something else."

o Eastwood Says He's Too Old for Dirty Harry, Jolie Might Give Try

As for "Flags of Our Fathers," he says there was a small detachment of black troops on Iwo Jima as a part of a munitions company, "but they didn't raise the flag. The story is 'Flags of Our Fathers,' the famous flag-raising picture, and they didn't do that. If I go ahead and put an African-American actor in there, people'd go, 'This guy's lost his mind.' I mean, it's not accurate."
