Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
Teen Info on Cancer, or TIC, allows young people like you to get honest cancer information, advice and support on how to cope with cancer.

We have a site full of easy to understand information on cancer and all the things that go with it like treatments, what will happen to your schooling, how you will feel etc.

But TIC is more than that... it is also a community. You can make friends, write a blog and chat on the forums with space to share your experiences of cancer with other young people.

    • Texting videos to your profile and a map that works

      * You can now add video to your page by using your mobile phone. All you have to do is film something on your mobile and text it to us. It can then be uploaded to your TIC page. For more instructions see below...

      Videos

      NOW you can add videos to your profile directly from your mobile phone! Watch out though, sending an MMS (video SMS) can cost up to 50p. If your parents pay your phone bill, check it's ok with them.

      - record a video clip less than 20 seconds long

      - send it as an MMS to 82608399167@mms.youtube.com

      - leave me a note on my page www.click4tic.org.uk/members/thomasm... to tell me

      - we'll upload it for you and let you know it's on your page

      The TIC map has been fixed!

      Thomas has managed to fix the TIC map so that you can see other people...which is kind of the point. Have a look now, and you'll actually see some of your buddies.

    • We're still busy! October 31st 2007


      So we're still beavering away! This week you can see new info on tiredness. Thomas is tweaking things so that adding video and pics should be easier. I'm looking at the resources section and updating it and adding more stuff to it. So if you found any other organisations helpful - let us know.

      adding video and pictures to your profiles

      I know some of you have been trying to add video and pictures to your TICspaces. Sorry we've been a bit slow getting back. We've added a fantastic video of a laughing baby to show you what you could add to your page. It's on the left.

      To add videos just send me a url (http://www.whatever.com/whatever) of the video you like from Youtube, Google Video or JimmyTeensTV.

      To add pictures to your TICspace you have to upload your photos to a flickr.com account, and then send me the url. If you want though, you can send me the pictures to thomas@cancerbackup.org along with your username and I'll upload them to your page for you.

    • TIC has had a lick of paint and is looking good - 18th Oct 07

      There have been some pretty massive changes to the TIC site...I don't know where to start. New homepage, video on the site, adding buddies, leaving comments, adding video and images to profiles, a new forum layout, a TIC map and more...

      For the moment this will only be visible on a few pages...but it will be spreading throughout the site. What it does mean is you get to see what Becky and I look like...and we have to be on video...quite scary!

      New profile page: profiles have been made much better. Visit my page to see what they can look like. www.click4tic.org.uk/members/thomasm...

      Buddies - you can add your friends to your profile page so you can find them easily.

      Notes - you can leave messages on your buddies' pages.

      Videos - you can add a video to your page (you have to ask me for it and I'll stick it in for you)

      Pictures - you can add a flickr slideshow to your page (again, you have to ask me first)

      You can now add yourself to the TIC map, see where other members are, and find friends who live either nearby or far away. www.click4tic.org.uk/shareit/map

      a new forum layout
      We've tweaked the forum to make it easier for you to see what's been recently posted, and your posts should appear instantly now.

      Hey guys!
      Ive been chosen to represent Teenage Cancer Trust.
      I bet no one even thinks about wearing suncream when they go out and about with their mates when its sunny. I know I never did.
      I will be now though. I had a look on www.shunburn.com This really changed my mind about how i act in the sun. It has loads of facts about keeping safe in the sun and how harmful the suns UV rays are if you dont stay protected.
      go on the site and sign up to recieve free text alerts, telling you when it is going to be hot so you need to wear suncream. It will really help you out.
      There is also the chance to win loads of different prizes like the new I-pod nano How wicked!

      I'm Lottie and my Tic site is www.click4tic.org.uk/members/Lottie if anyone wants to comment me because i have a lot of spare time right now since being diagnosed with Hodgekins and it's pretty lonely because i live in Oman which is an arabic country and there are no teenagers out here British or Omani with Cancer that i can talk to.

      I'm Lottie anyways :)

      and also, i just thought i'd say that there is this one girl who was on my dar ward yesterday when i went in for chemo and her parents were hiding the fact that she had cancer. i felt so bad for her... she looked so terrified. my counciller lady was with me and she was furious! i just thought it'd be interesting for people to know how some people still live...

      November is lung cancer awareness month, here are some facts :

      Lung cancer is the biggest killer in woman and biggest killer of all cancers,its death rate is higher than brest,prostate and bowel all put together.

      20 % of lung cancer patients are non smokers! developing possibly through passive smoking or genetics.

      There is a stigma that people with lung cancer smoked and they did it to themselfs. But I am a 23 year old aerobic instructor who has never smoked,dont drink and im vegetarian.

      Due to this stigma that we are all smokers the goverment only put 4% toward the funding of treatments!!!!

      We need to create awareness, help support thr roy castle foundation.
      the 7 signs to be aware of are:
      1= persistent cough
      2= breathlessness
      3= continous chest infections that antibiotics dont cure
      4=weight loss
      5=loss of appetite
      6=Shoulder pain
      7=chest pain
      It took doctors 10 months to diagnose me,get it checked out if this sounds familuar. early detection saves lifes!
